Then you have not really studied it. If you had, you would know that in the old testament, the Bible has something call the 10 commandments that God gave Moses to give to the nation of Israel. If you look at the basic rules of the 10 commandments you will find an outline for how all moral humans should conduct themselves no matter what era they have lived in, including the current one. For instance, instructions on not to kill or steal, lie, and I think all of the rest would be applicable to any civilized society. In the new testament Jesus goes on to give us the ultimate example of how we should live our lives. That love is complete fulfillment of the Law. If we love our neighbor as ourselves we will not steal from him or murder him ...would we? So, I would re examine my scripture because if everyone lived by the principals in the Bible we would have a perfect society. the examples of how we should be moral human beings in the Bible are timeless and perfect. This is because they come from One who is perfect.

You think that the Bible doesn't apply to us now. Why? Maybe it's time for people to get back to having morals. It is the lack of morals in general that makes you think that the Bible is out of date. There was something I read somewhere that says that mankind may advance but man remains the same. The Bible is a book that we are supposed to use to help us make the right individual decisions. Have you written a book that can better explain the way we should live our lives. I didn't think so. What is this new morality that you are talking about? Seriously... What is the new foundation that we should base our beliefs on. If you don't have anything better then what is written in the Bible must be correct. Let me know when you have something better and then I will decide whether or not I want to change the way that I have believed my entire life.

Ask the many people who are dying of AIDS. Or ask people who are abused, cheated on or lied to. If more people lived Biblical morality, society would be better, healthier and just nicer. Morality would only be outdated if the consequences of immorality weren't so serious.

Biblical morality.
ok lets do way with it, then we can murder, rape, have sex with anyone including family members, Do way with Unlawful Sexual Relations in Lev 18,
who will be a judge for your ""NEW morality "" and what will it look like. I do not think you have thought this through. I think that you might have some troubles with Biblical morality because you want to do something the bible says is wrong

***What place does Biblical morality have in a modern society? ****
Almost none, since most of it dictates are not supportable or enforceable at this time.
Commandment #7.
Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Penalty follows
Leviticus 20:10
And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.
***The more I have studied it, the more out of date it seems. Is it time for a new morality?***
Yes, and a World wide common bill of human rights is a good place to start.
Have a pleasant day.

Anyone who relies on a book to tell them the difference between right and wrong doesn't have a true sense of morality. Especially a book that has been around for 2000 years.
Just in the last century, women showing their ankles was once thought of as immoral. When it comes to those finer points of morality, everyone's sense of morality should be updated. However, the bigger ones are almost instinctive that you don't need a book to tell you it's wrong. Murder, for example.

Biblical morality still has a place in our society. It may seem outdated, but we have made that choice and with that comes consequences.

Why does it need to be 'biblical' morality? It's about the same as all the other moral laws we abide by. We've just tweaked it for a materialistic, gluttonous, sexually promiscuous society.
