What you need to remember is that the Government does not want to have to pay out anything to support foreigners and they want no more drains on the system.
Your letter has to show that you are both willing and able to fully support this person and that they will not need NHS treatment, assistance in housing or in any other way from government funded sources.

She will need a GUEST (not guess ) visa and a statement from your or her bank showing how much money she has for the trip. Also, is she coming to visit or stay? It is harder to come to stay, so maybe the first time she should come for a visit. It would help if she is married and her husband stays behind, thus she has a reason to return to Russia. Also, if she is in school or has a job, she should get papers saying that... Also, she should get the house/car in her name so that she could prove to the embassy that she has property to come back to. ;) I hope that helps. Udachi, esli chto lutshe nanyat' advokata i on/ona vam dast sovet.

I believe it's called a guess visa, you need to prove that he/she has somewhere to stay, won't be requireing medical treatment and have sufficient funds (you or your cousin).
Not to strict with Russia but non Shengen signees seem to have different requirements.
