It really just depends on what kind of relationship you have with your parents. Are you communicative with them? Do they encourage honesty? If so then just tell them in a non-confrontational way. Make sure to let it be a 2 sided conversation. Regardless of how you tell them or what kind of relationship you have you may get a strong response. If you do, just remember its only because they love you. The only thing you really have complete control over in this situation is your reaction to their response.
When my teen-aged daughter told me she didn't believe in God I didn't react at all. In her own time she changed her mind. This is just my experience.

Clearly define *what* you believe in and tell and show them how your belief system will make you happy.
The goal in any religious belief system (formal or non-formal)should be your own profound (by profound I mean unshakable) happiness.
What parent would not want their child to be happy?
If you are only interested in rebelling against their religion, you will produce unnecessary conflict, so do not tell them until you can honestly explain to them why your decision is best for you.

Isn't belief in God a personal thing. Why would you need to tell your parents? GROW UP.

Well, not that I do not believe in G-d. But, at 30 years old, I told my parents that I was converting to Judaism, that I could not accept Christianity. I just came out and told them. All H--- broke out. I did not know my father could raise his voice, let alone scream so loud.
My Rabbi told me to just wait, and with time they would accept.
But, they were ''at my throat'' till they died, about 35 years later. It never ended.
But, one has to stick up for what he believes. Have you ever considered that maybe their religion is not for you, and another one might be? Just do what you have to do.

Ask them logical questions on the existance of god and you might find that they too don't honestly believe. Thats what i did. Science is a reality. Religion is mythical.

Is it important to you that they know? I think you need to ask yourself this question first. Kinda weigh out how much "bad blood" this could bring you. Then I would only enter this subject if it came up in conversation. I mean the two biggest taboo's in general conversation are politics and religion.

Then, praytell, WTF does it practice ??? A bullet hollow between the eyes proves the physique develop into shot ineffective, yet there are no longer any Fingerprints, DNA, photographic or video evidence etc, to coach that he develop into murdered. Absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence. Many human charlatans (like Nostradamus, Edgar Cayce and others) have tried to predict the destiny yet have failed, and purely the Writers of the Bible have a a hundred% precise checklist. . . .
