Kids say the sweetest most innocence things and are so serious about it. Explain that the drink is hot to our mouth because our month is not as hot. Have him blow on his hand and touch the side of the cup if it is not to hot and ask him which is the cooler of the two. Would love to see the expression on his face when the light goes on and he knows the answer. Give him a hug for me.

hahahaha, thats an interesting one. Its the flow of the fluid that cools hot drinks and not the blowing. Even just by stirring up hot drinks will allow it to cool. The basic thing is that heat drops when it is in a lower temp area, it will eventually meet equalibrium and then get cooler. Just tell him its not your breath but when you blow it stirs the fluids, the motion causes the fluid to sink and rise. If you stir long enough or blow long enough it will cool faster.

Tell him that his breath moves the cold air around him and pushes it to the hot drink and cools it down.

tell him that his breathe is pretty warm, but the drink is hotter. Make a learning experience out of it. Have him play with a thermometer. He can see how hot the drink is, and how hot his breathe is, and maybe he can take the temperature of other things. have fun with it

That is a very good question, our breath is cooler than a boiling cup of 'tea' (for eg) if not there would be no need to blow on it or to cool it down in the first place. What ever you do don't put it into the refrigerator or freezer, just set it down for a few minutes and it'll be fine!

hot drinks cool down by gradually evaporating (steam) by blowing on it you are helping the steam and the extra heat escape from the drink only leaving the cooler parts of the drink.

blowing air encourages heat loss from the drink by evaporation. It breaks up the surrface layer and exposes deeper hotter areas of the drink to the air thus increasing heat loss rate.

Answer him by saying..when it's hot out side and your outside you feel really hot and sweaty...and if your just hanging around outside and there's no wind it feels even hotter...but when there's even just a small breeze doesn't it cool you off and you don't feel so hot..even though the breeze is hot too.

haha funny.

Well breath isnt "hot" really, its kinda vaguely warm. But by the time it reaches the drink it has cooled considerably. At which point it becomesmore like "wind", and wind cools things down

however exactly why wind cools things down i DONT know!

Uh good luck love

Breath is not as hot as hot drinks, and when blown fast in a thin stream, it loses it's heat, cooling anything it brushes cooler than itself.
