how long is it, and where is the school located. also various things i may need to know. Would you recommend it?

Nuke school is broken up into several sessions.. First there's A school for your source rate, then comes Power school and Protoype. Most schools are in in South Carolina, although Subs I believe are in Groton CT.

it is EXTREMELY competetive, and they have no time to ease you into things.. a failing grade is 79 or lower. lots of people wash out at various stages and end up in the Fleet in their source rating.

I think from start to finish you are looking at around 2 years or more just for training.

You go to the nearest US NAVY RECRUITER AND ASK!!!
They would be glad to give you that info if they are allowed. I would recommend it, but first you have to go through Basic and AIT Training, before you can do the other.
