There are pro and con to each situation.

If you were to get married before, he would be paid a little extra because he has an obligation to provide a home for his family. The draw back is that it is difficult to leave a new wife and have very limited contact for 6 weeks or more. I suppose that would be the same whether you married or not.

If your intent is to get married then I suppose it matteres not whether you do it before or after.

The two of you should sit down and decide if that is what you want...... Military life is not an easy life for married people, there are a lot of demands placed on the service member, which requires a lot of support and understanding from the spouse.

I would get married first, than there is the commitment of a ring that will make the both of you think twice about doing something stupid, and you would get more money if you got married. you would get family separation pay ($250 a month) housing ($depends on where you live) and BAS (usually $217 A month) on top of his check, and if you're not spending any of that more while he's in training it'll be a nice chunk of change to help start you life together.

Wait until after he has finished his basic training and is settled in his new assignment. It would be very stressful on a new marriage to be absent from one another for three months, then have to move at least once, if not twice within a short time period. My wife and I did the same thing and 15 years later, we are still happily married.

My own personal opinion is to wait. I'm engaged to a sailor and we are waiting until he gets back from deployment. This is because it is hard being away from your loved one and with me never having to go through this he said it was only fair to us that we wait so we can really see what married life would be for us(the wedding is still on). The only benefit you would receive as his wife would be a little more money and insurance. Since he is just starting out it will not be much. You guys have to decide for yourself what's best. It's not an easy thing to do and I commend you for sticking with him and his decision. It is tough and you can get through it. Good Luck and Congrats!!!!!

Get married after he is in. He will be more settled and sure of his footing. Its more difficult to get used to a new wife and adjust to the Air Force at the same time. You will stand a better chance of surviving.

I think you'd be better off dumping him and marrying me.

I have a better chance of being alive to be able to stay with you, plus I'll be coming into some money...every woman's dream!
