To my understanding, a soul is a heavier type of spirit. Which
looks like us when it first leaves this world, and is still subject
to spiritual forces at work in the lower dimensions.
The self, consciousness, is the spirit. A light being that is not
affected by these lower forces.
Whether we begin in this higher state, and get messed up trying to experience Creation, and then have to work our way back. Or the spirit just exists, but has the ability to evolve to this higher state. Is up for debate, and in fact may both be true, in that God only rested on the 7th day. And Creation is a continuing process.

Hi, great questions.

I take a religious stand, based on the Bible. Actually, it is the flesh that wars against the spirit/soul. If we reflect, we can probably agree because how many times have we known something to be bad, but do it anyway because it feels good?

I think you bring up a good question. The body/flesh is winding down because it is physical. The spirit and soul is not winding down and is not physical. It is eternal. It is defined by our emotions, feelings, thoughts, etc.

God longs for us to be with him and has made a great offer. Jesus Christ died for us so that our sins may be forgiven and we may join for all eternity with the Father.

If we accept, our eternal spirit and soul will reside with the Father. If we decline and remain in our sin, we are eternally seperated and will spend eternity suffering.

Our decision. I know my choice.

There is no physical location for your soul. Your soul is the conscious part of you that was created in the image of God. It knows right from wrong, and desires a relationship with its Creator, because that is what it was created for.
When we die, those who have chosen to be in a right relationship with God, will go to be with Him for eternity in Heaven.
Those who rejected their Creator will go to be apart from Him for eternity, which is Hell.
The reason there is a Heaven or a Hell because they describe our soul's proximity to our Creator. Where our treasure is, there our hearts (souls) will be also. Basically, if you treasure God, you will be with the One you chose. If you treasure all else besides God, you will be without the One you did not choose.
Earth is the playground where our souls must decide where we want to be for eternity.

well, your consciousness is a process of thinking. so...i would say it dies, when your brain no longer functions. but, now, if you are refering to an eternal life state...i would think that after death, you would physically lose consciousness (of course) ...but the knowledge of your spirit, what you could consider consciousness, i suppose, would carry on. you are still the same person, just in a new form. "a new creation"

there has been recent study done that shows our heart has a brain function and strangely enough deals with matters of the heart so to speak ... it is the intuitive part of us .. the part that deals with love etc
i seen a documentry on this not so long ago and was amazed
so it has me thinking now .. is our brain responsible for our actions or our heart ? and if so what part of us dies and what part of us live on after death ?
i cant wait till they do further study into this .... i think it may explain more of these unanswerable questions

I don't know where the soul is located in the body, but I guess it is just all over!
When you die,the soul departs & goes to God.Your conciencousness goes there too.
Some ppl think it goes to WalMart or McDonalds! Can't get enough fries or bargains!

It goes back to God when the heart stops which is why people who have been brought back sometimes remember seeing a tunnel of light.

We are made of body, soul, and spirit. Our soul will go to Heaven when God gives us the Holy Ghost when we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
