Spanish isn't hard for an English speaker because it only has 5 vowel sounds and is written phonetically. The grammar is pretty straightforward too, until you get into the conditionals and subjunctive, and that's just a question of practice.
You can get decent CD courses, or online. You should go live in a Spanish speaking country but be aware that the vocabulary varies a great deal from one country to another, esp. in Latin America. For example in Venezuela the word for "spoon" must always have a qualifier (as in teaspoon, wooden spoon, soupspoon) as the word on its own has acquired an unfortunate sexual connotation. Or a word which means "boat rudder" in one country can mean something very insulting in another, and mean "necktie" in a third!
If you travel to learn the language, *don't* room with other English speakers, try to live with a Spanish speaking group only. Otherwise you don't really learn.

Spanish is the hardest of all romance languages, but it's not too difficult to learn. The good news is that it is spoken the same way it is written, so you never have to guess the pronunciations as you do in English and in French. Another good reason to choose Spanish as a second language is that you will practice it a lot! There are many Spanish-only TV channels and bilingual options are being offered more each day.

Spanish is not considered a difficult language to learn. It is one of the romance languages and easier to learn than a guttural language like English. Buy a tape/CD series from a book store and try watching one of the Spanish channels. Get your vocabulary better by using index cards.

I found Spanish to be the easiest language to learn. If you don't want to take classes (which is what I would recommend), try out a CD-ROM program like Rosetta Stone or something along those lines. You might want to try out a book or two from the library as well, which may give you a better understanding of grammer.

It is a wonderful language, and probably the easiest second language to learn for English speakers.

The alphabet is pretty much the same, but unlike English each vowel sound is only pronounced in one way. They adhere to the grammar and declination rules better than we do, also. They have some wonderful literature, that I encourage you to read after you have gotten slightly beyond beginner, written so well, you WANT to go look up what words you don't know.

I have been learning french for the last month using CD's by a guy called Michel Thomas, If you google him you can get the info. It's amazed me the vocabulary I have learnt, without having to memorise anything or write lists of stuff, he seems to insert it into your basic knowlege without any effort from you!! Imagine - No Homework!! I know he also does spanish and a few other european languages. I can assure you it is not hype and you will learn fast and easily. Association is the technical term I believe.
Also I learnt spanish for 4 years at school and it is a very easy and sexy language!!

I'd suggest you start with Michel Thomas as suggested above. You can sometimes get courses on Ebay. New they cost £70.I got a German course for £12 on ebay. I think Spanish is the easiest romance language as the pronunciation rules are straitforward. There's no problem about where the stress comes as there is in Italian.

Its possibly the simplest language to learn. FAR simpler than english.

Everything is spelt phonetically, so spelling is no bother. Pronunciation isnt too difficult, aside from rolled r's.

Em.....Dora the explorer? ^.^

Nah seriously, Get tapes, schoolbooks. It usually starts with the travel essentials on tapes and stuff. Learn how the tenses work, and the various exceptions to the rules and then you're sorted.

Then, try translating spanish newspapers online.

Thats pretty much how I learned.

Spanish is comparatively easy to learn. It is complete phonetic. The best way to learn any language is to go to a country where that language is spoken. If you're not up for trekking to Mexico/Spain, then you could visit your local Hispanic neighborhoods. There are also computer software products, but they aren't as effective as taking a class.

It actually is a very hard language to learn, not to me though cause I was raised with it, but yeah I dont know it perfectly because of all the accents and stuff, I have been using it for 14 years and i still have things to learn. You could hire a tutor, watch spanish shows with subtitles, thats how i learned most of my english. Things like that. Good luck. Nos Vemos (See Ya)
