I really think 5 months is way too young. I'd say around 2 1/2 but the older the better. Ice cream is good and I think once chidlren get hooked they keep wanting it. What they don't know they won't miss.. but once they know it.. they will ask and ask.. and then you are putting more sugar in their system. If you choose to give ice cream at any age, I think the more natural and less ingredients the better. Ingredients that have only cream, milk, and sugar and perhaps fruit flavoring.

its not possible for the baby to eat ice cream at 5 months you might just distroy his/her throat at that age, okay there is no problem if the baby eats the ice cream when its melted and all the cold is partially gone. In theory its much better if the baby is prevented from eating junk items at such small age, you can feed him/her ice cream when the child is about 2 1/2 or its much better at 3 yrs. thats all i have to say

I started giving my daughter ice cream around this age. Not a lot just a couple of tiny bites once in a while. She's 19 months old and it hasn't affected her weight or eating habits. She was very petite until just a few months ago.

NEVER!
Never give a baby ICE CREAM!
That will begin a plumage into FAT-HOOD and cause an addiction to ice cream for the rest of their lives, and the little tike will be screaming for ice cream FOREVER!
DO NOT AT ALL EVER FEED ICE CREAM TO A BABY!
Not to mention child obesity and diabetes!
Good lord, why don't you just make it a MARGARITA and give it a cigarette too while your at it?
Maybe before it walks you can get it addicted to coke and meth!
