It's an addiction for some people. They are so used to drinking so much of it to get their "caffeine fix". For many if they tried to stop, the withdraw from caffeine is very painful. Some people are hooked on the taste of certain brands of fizzy drinks (Soda, pop, cola, etc) .
Many people learn at an early age to drink it and it becomes a person's main drink of the day. You now see kids drinking iced coffee, that has more caffeine and calories than regular brand soda. It's sad.

I stopped drinking them too unless I am outside working hard and then only one. I had a Ginger Ale today and it was really good as a "treat". after getting hot and sweaty.

It is the thrill of the fizz tingeling in your throat. Besides the caffiene jolt.It won't enchance your life, but it'll rot you teeth and enhance the dental bill.

Agree with you they are vile.
The ones with sweeteners are even worse.
Water or pure fruit juices are best.
Those that must have fizz should try pure fruit juice with naturally sparkling mineral water - or better still champagne!
