My Son is 7 years old and I wanna get his hair cut before school. I'd like some Idea's before I go to the hair dresser because last time I just went and asked them to give my son an in style hair cut none of the other children had that hair cut in fact all the boys had long scruffy skater hair.

I NEVER once said I wanted him in the in crowd. I just thought it would be nice to give him a nice hair cut for his first day of school. He's shy and I don't want him to stand out to much or he get's imbarrassed and upset... last year he wanted to come home and stay home because everyone was rubbing his head and telling him he was bald... it was short in the back and longer on the top!

Why do people have to assume something when posting an answer? Everone just has to be 100% accurate on what they are saying or you get the rude comments... I'll say it again and again... I do not want my son to stand out nor to be in the "in-crowd".. he was traumatized last year because he had short hair. The other kids were not mean to him but he got more attention then he could handle... I do thank the people who gave me ideas so I can discuss them with my son this way if he does go to school and everyone pays attention I can talkto him about what a good job he did picking his hair cut and how it's good to get attention for something HE DID and HE PICKED... I couldn't do that last year because the hair drersser picked it for him!!!

IGNORE ALL THE 16 YEAR OLD GIRLS SAYING " LONG HAIR IS IN" WHAT IS IN FOR 18 YEAR OLD BOYS AND 7 YEAR OLDS IS DIFFERENT!!!!AND WHO EVER HAD THE "IN CROWD" COMMENT NEEDS TO SHUT HER MOUTH YOU ARE A GOOD MOM FOR WANTING TO MAKE SURE YOU DON'T SEND YOUR BABY TO SCHOOL LOOKING LIKE A BULLY TARGET. YOU ARE A VERY CONCERNED AND INVOLVED MOTHER YAY FOR YOU. ANYWAYS AS FAR AS THE HAIR CUT THING GOES DO A CEASAR OR "FADE" IT IS SHORT ENOUGH TO LOOK NICE AND WELL KEPT BUT YOU CAN SPIKE IT. MY 6 YEAR OLD HAS ALWAYS HAD THIS CUT I HOPE IT NEVER GOES OUT I LOVE IT (hope i could help)

Just avoid the "mushroom cut" which is shaved underneath and long on top. That style is very dated. Get a cut like Ashton Kutcher. Long but still layered and messy but in a nice clean way. I know everyone that is rude to you probably doesn't care about hair. I think it is important for kids to have something in style. It makes them feel cool. You are doing a good thing for him by caring about his appearance. My mom didn't care back then and I was teased all the time because she picked nerdy clothes and permed my hair. I was so mad at her. When kids are young like that, they need guidance and then choices. Ignore the rude comments. I have 3 children and have been doing hair for 13 years. Go onto Yahoo images and type Ashton Kutcher. Show your son to see if he likes it. It always helps to take pictures to your stylist too.

Styles vary due to where your son is attending school. I would suggest going to places in your area children the age of your son go(I.E. parks, malls, cinemas, etc. Take along a camera(digital preferably so you can delete as needed) to take pictures of hairstyle on kids around is age that you both like. You can then print up the choices you come up with and give them to the hair stylist so they can match it up to your son. Remember to have a couple of choices, since not all hair can hold every style( curly, straight, wavy, etc) I hope this helps solve your problem.

just let him choose. tell him that he is going to get a haircut and ask him what he wants it to look like. I suggest going into the hair salon where you are going to get it cut and look at the books they have there and he can pick one out. do it before hand so he knows what he wants then make an appointment and tell them what he wants... then come back later.
the most important thing to remember though, is that you are the parent so if he wants something that you dont like or arent comfortable with, then speak up.

I have seen a huge varity of hair styles I am thirteen and alot of guys have short hair because the "cool" thing to do last summer was to shave their heads It really depends on your son's face shape tho if he is a circle or hart i would go with a shaggy long is like not like hippy long but u know what i mean. if he is Oval or something like that i would go with something shorter and a little spiky..

Its more what does your son like. My boys are 7, 15 and 17 and all have something different. I dont want them to be a follower but rather themselves. A nice neat cut is always "in".. as long as he has a giving, loving heart he will always be cool..

All the boys I've seen either have normal short hair, spikey gelled hair, or shaggy/long skater hair.
Let your son choose what style he wants...he's the one who has to live with the hair.
Plus, popularity isn't important. Rise above the others, set your own trend.

We go with the "double 0 fade" for our son. Very short on sides & back of head, with a quick fade into the top. It's kind of a twist of the "Marines style" yet the top can be any length to spike/style.
*** I don't like the surfer/skater hair either.

Let his hair grow long then curl it a bit at the ends, to make it flip out. But don't let his hair grow longer than the middle of his neck. Or else his hair will look too scruffy.

well I would let him decide..my son has had a mohawk for about 3 years (he's 8) and now all of the sudden this year I see them everywhere...now he wants something different..my mother is a hairdresser and she says the most popular styles this year are the short mohawks and the longer shaggy cuts...i still say let him decide he's old enough to have his own style.
