Ok here we go again no Masons are not evil they give away millions of Dollars to Charity every day. Shriners who are Masons too provide eight million dollars a day to fund their hospitals that treat children free of cost. (That's the epitome of evil) The Masons are a secret society whose secrets are plastered all over the Internet. All the rituals revolve around the building of King Solomans temple built for God. And all promises are made on the Bible, Koran, Torah depending on you preference. All the people who bash the Masons do not have any idea what their talking about and besides good Christians don't judge people that's left to the Supreme Architect of the Universe.

Of all the answers given to this question so far only 2 are worth reading. Please people have you never heard the saying."It's better to be thought of as a fool, than open your mouth and remove all doubt." If you really have no clue as to what you are talking about go on to another question.
I have been a Mason for almost 20 years and I'll assure you there are nothing evil going on at your local Masonic Lodge. The secrets are part of it sure, but with a little time surfing the net you can find out all you want to know. Just do so with an open mind.
Many famous people are masons........ Several signers of the constitution...Presidents....Actors....athletes.

We, as a race, have the wonderful quality of fearing everything we do not understand...it has become our instinctive response due to religious instillments of the centuries...and that fear is blamed on a "devil", "evil", "hell", etc.....none of which actually exist in reality, by the way.
No, Masons are not "evil"...however, they are quite a secret society...we just can't stand "secrets", now can we??? This society was, hundreds & hundreds of years ago, formed to protect very valuable pieces of history--information that was being sought to be destroyed by religious powers of the times, & even today, because of how their little boats would be rocked out of the water when these treasures are eventually made public...talk about a little bout of chaos, My Friend!
Yes, they do involve themselves as humanitarians, since their own doctrine encompasses the protection & service of such...I, personally, find hope in the fact that a man-based concept has reigned so effectively for so long with a positive agenda...rare indeed!!!

No Not at all.
Freemasonry is proud of its philosophy and practice of "making good men better." Only individuals believed to be of the finest character are favorably considered for Membership. Every applicant must advocate his belief in the existence of a Supreme Being.
The mission of Freemasonry is to promote a way of life that binds like minded men into a worldwide Brotherhood that transcends all religious, ethnic, cultural, social and educational differences; by teaching the great principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth: and, by the outward expression of these, through its fellowship, its compassion and its concern, to find ways in which each may serve his God, his family, his country, his neighbors and himself."

I agree that Masons do a lot of good things. And I am not saying that they are evil at all. But I will say one thing. To supposed to be a Christian organization, it is awfully strange to me that no mason whom I have ever talked to, including at least one of my own family, will not ever discuss the meetings which they have to you, or even answer a question which you may ask them about their meetings. And then they expect you to want to join their organization. Not me. If you cannot even tell a person what is going on in your meetings, it does not sound to me like you are much of a Christian organization. For Christ did not tell us to hide the gospel, but to spread the gospel. If nothing wrong is being done, then why do you care for outsiders to know the content of your meetings? I see nothing Christian about that. Sounds very stupid to me. To maybe more directly answer your question, I will tell you what I have been told by a very intelligent, Christian man. And whether or not this is exactly right or not, I do not know. But he told me that when they were first organized (the Masons), that they (the members) had to bow down to a leader during their meetings; just as one would bow down to a god. And the fact that they will absolutely not discuss the content of their meetings, makes me be more led to believe that possible this man from whom I received this information was absolutely right. Why would anyone want to join an organization and not even know what they were joining; or what they were getting into? No one, in my opinion, with any common sense at all. Sounds pretty evil to me.

Hi, I am a member of an esoteric Order of Freemasonry that is not completely recognized by most since we admit women as well as men to all rites, lights and privileges of the Order. We are called American Co-Masonry. We practice rituals that would be recognizable, though a tad longer and with more singing, to any Order of Freemasons.
If I may chime in on this:
Freemasonry has been reviled by despots (Hitler sent us to concentration camps, so did Portuguese dictators in the 1800s) and "religious" fanatics who claim that anyone not exclusively with them must, by definition, be the spawn of the devil. Obviously then, in some situations, we keep our membership a secret and it is up to the Brother as to whether or not to let others know.
We keep our rituals private, not from fear of disgust or that in revealing them others would be turned away, but because we wish our candidates for the degree to experience the ritual first-hand. Surely you have read a book and then seen a movie, only to spend the entire time comparing the two?
There have been spurious "revelations" involving Freemasonry that sell many books but have little truth. I refer to the Leo Taxil hoax for a great example. "National Treasure" would have us all driving Ferraris. Oh well!
Those who are quick to dismiss our works might look to their own behavior. We are never claim to be a religion, Brothers. Never. We make no claim as to what happens in the afterlife. Instead, we wish to emulate that of the Good Samaritan. Was he condemned for HIS works? Hmmm. Not sure about that.
We are a system of morality, a way of living in this world. The Golden Rule is more our guide. We sit in Lodge with women and men of all religions and of all races. We sit in Brotherhood.
Condemn that if you will. We wish only for those tolerant of people. Human beings trying to make themselves more fitting stones in the building of Solomon's Temple is what we are about.
Surely you have better things to do with your time, those who condemn us, than to blindly pick at our eyes. Maybe you can find a child who is burned or crippled and help them? How about donating some time or money to a women's shelter? I know we do.

The fundamental beliefs and practices of Masonry are not compatible with Christianity.
No Christian can become a Mason and expect to be pleasing to God.
If you're a Christian, you need to make a choice.

On the outside they seem good, doing charity work and such, but they are a secrete society and not something that a christian should be involved in.
