They were chewy sweets, similar to Chewits, and were around in the 80s. They came in mint and cherry flavours and I'd love to know where to buy them.

I fed my young horse strategy, it is a very good feed and the pelleted feed is easier to digest, IMO. If he is a weanling though I would feed him Mare and Foal. The problem with feeding a weanling any kind of feed is that unless you have other horses on the same feed it will spoil long before you can feed an entire 50 pound bag. I have a mini donkey and he gets approx an 8 oz cup full of feed 2X a day but only because the horses are getting fed and I just can't leave him out. A mini doesn't need very much concentrated feed at all. I bet he is cute as anything though.

It's not necessarily bad per say, however it wouldn't be my first choice. After look at both labels, I noticed that the recommendation chart doesn't even include growing horses. Not to mention a mini has the same requirements in vit/min as a horse, but doesn't need as much energy. You have to be careful not to let any youngster grow too fast, and even more in mini's. So, out of the feed choices you gave I'd choose the Strategy. However, if you have good quality hay and a vitamin/mineral supplement, I think that would be best. It's very common to overfeed horses especially growing ones.

both are roughly the same except when it comes to protein. EVERY veggies include a good amount of protein; fresh fruit does not.
