You can put peroxide on it first, and then follow up with some neosporin. Do not use alcohol as one person suggested, as alcohol can actually burn the skin and any surrounding tissue, which slows the healing process.

Cat saliva is very good at fixing things for the cat. Your cat will probably have that all under control before you can even get to it. Cats are amazing that way. If one of my cats came to me with a cut from another cat, I would flush it out gently with plenty of tap water I had poured into a cup, and then turn it over to the cat. You have probably noticed how they lick themselves over and over. Take a look at it about an hour from now and I believe you will find the cat has taken over for you. If you are looking at a fairly long cut, a vet might help you by closing it up. He will also be able to disinfect it for you. That would be a decision you could make tomorrow morning, after the cat has a chance to have a go at it overnight. Good luck to you! All of these responses are made with good intentions, if going to a vet is not a problem and the injury is not very minor or infected you can try to doctor it yourself, but call a vet for the proper medication. Humans are not cats and react to medications in different ways.

If you love you cat, take it to a vet to heal it's wounds and then consider keeping it in the house. There way to many enemies of cats in the human world. Humans that hate cats, other cats, roads and highway's traffic.

I saw a little cats carcass in the street crushed with it guts all exposed. All that was left was the little head. I could only see the back of the head with the little ears sticking up as I dodged it. I looked in my review mirror as the car behind me crushed the remaining little head.

I have to go now this memory makes me very emotional when I see it. Sorry.

Hydrogen peroxide to initially clean it. Watch for any sign of pus. Keep Neosporin on it or some triple antibiotic. If it really looks bad, take to the vet for an antibiotic injection. Obviously, your cat is a male. Male cats always fight each other if there is a female around, which you probably already know. Don't let it out for a few days if you can manage that.

You should first clip the fur all around the cut as short as you possibly can - if you have clippers that is ideal. Now get a bowl of warm water and dissolve some salt, and sponge the cut repeatedly until it is totally clean.

Cats are very prone to infection and abscesses so you should ideally keep this up until it heals. When you run your warm water bear in mind the cat's normal body temp is a few degrees warmer than ours.

Boil some water and let it cool, then add 2 teaspoons of salt to half a pint, and clean the wound with a cotton ball. Do NOT use "human" disinfectants like Dettol or TCP - they can cause liver and kidney damage. If the wound is deep, or is infected, take your cat to a vet before it gets worse and harder to heal.

I would wash the laceration with cotton balls dipped saturated in hydrogen peroxide - wash, wash, wash... You can smear a little bactrine on it but the cat will most likely simply lick it off. So, just keep washing the wound with hydrogen peroxide 4 times a day should be enough. But once it gets abscessed, you need antibiotics and the vet.

Take it to the vet, thats the best thing. Who knows if the other cat has had its shots. My dog was bit by another dog and we took him to the vet and they gave him anti biotics. Its the safest thing, if you want them to be ok....4 sure. You shouldnt let them go outside either, thats how my first cat came home poisened. He died right in front of me within 10 minutes. My new two cats dont ever go outside.

I think you should see a vet with the cat.
You can never be sure where that other cat had been or what germs it may have been carrying so it is better to be safe than sorry.

No sure but if it was my cat I would use Milton on it since it can be used on babied bottles and for washing lettuce so it must be harmless. I use it to rub over my worktops. If it didn't clear up in a day or two it would be best to bring it to the vet.
