No! It is neither practical nor safe to install in an air bag in a car that was not originally fitted with one. Hundreds of hours of engineering and design work are required to make an air bag work properly in an automobile, and the airbags must be fitted properly, or there is danger of injury or death from the deploying air bag! They simply cannot be retrofitted to an existing car that was not designed for their use.
If you're really all that concerned about vehicle safety, then go buy a new Volvo.

Yes, it's do-able. But I don't know of any manufacturer who would take on the liability of manufacturing a "universal" air bag system, or even if it can done.
But if you are really obsessed with vehicle safety, your best bet is to buy a newer vehicle. The air bag system in the newer vehicles have been extensively researched and designed for the vehicle. And the air bag is only one reason the newer vehicles are much safer in an accident than an older vehicle.
Sure, you'll always get the argument that if an older, three ton behemoth hits a Honda Civic and yeah, yeah, yeah........that's just simple physics. If that is a concern for you, I'd recommend a mack truck.
Crash each one into a solid barrier at 40 MPH and I bet it's the Honda driver who walks away.

No, it is not possible. The airbag system is engineered into the vehicle during the design phase. Due to the complexity of the systems it is not possible to retro-fit airbags.
If you're that obsessed with safety, take a high-end defensive driving course. (Not the joke "ticket dismissal" class, but a real hands-on on-the-road course with a high performance driving safety instructor.)

I wouldnt even do it, why?
Most likely the car you have is made out of real steel not like the the cars that are made now. If you get into an accident i highly doubt the airbags will even go off.
Your car will probably have minor damages too because you're highly likely to get into an accident with a newer car.
I've seen accidents dealing older steel cars and newer hondas and let me tell you the honda looks as if a semi hit it and the steel truck, hardly a dent...

Yes, it is possible yet expensive, around 1k-2k. But it is probably safer not to get one if you want to be safe. If you must get them, check with your local car mechanic and if he doesn't do it, you may have to call someone who does. A company or something. Depending on where you live, you probably have someone who does airbags.

you can, but it's very pricy. First you have to have one put in via new steering wheel. Then the computer for the thing. Then the sensors. Plus paying for a warranty. = Very pricy (about $1500)

in theory it is, but i don't anyone who does it. it would be very expensive, U would nee a new steering wheel, crash sensors, and a electronic control unit, it would be easier to buy a newer car

I would think that it's almost certainly not possible but definitely not practical.
