Not awhile back I had an operation for menigitus and it almost killed me. I had stayed in the hospital for one whole month and a half. And it sucks!

Yes. It can relapse if not treated properly. It can recur and be caused again by the same or another organism. Recurrent meningitis occurs in those who are immunodeficient for some reason, or have a leak in the skull bone due to a small fracture or otherwise. If you had an operation, you probably had a shunt put in for hydrocephalus or water in the brain. It is possible for a shunt to get infected. Anyhow, be glad that you survived without severe sequelae and hope for the best. Good luck!

ask your doctor that question. Hopefully you are not prone to it since you had it once.

I've known a lot of people who have lived long lives and none have ever had meningitis...so I know you can stay away from it. As i recall it's catchy, and where I heard people got it from were college campuses.

Yes, you can. Avoid foods and practices which can cause or aid infection, and nervous tissue inflamation. These include white sugar and poor hand, nose, and mouth washing practices.

If you fear on onset, immediately consult a physician.

As far as I know, yes. It's not like the chicken pox.

If you think you have it again, go to the hospital NOW.

Yes, meningitis caused by bacteria and viruses-- so its a result and not a specific illness on its own. So unfortunately, you can get it again...
Glad you are better and I hope you NEVER get it again!
