It takes to much brain power to understand that an illegal can be from El Salvador and not Mexico. They also fail to understand that only about half of the illegals who enter each year come from Mexico so it is safe to say the 98% figure quoted by your first poster is a little off, say 48% off.

So many accurate and good answers. I won't even try the numbers thang as it's been said.
But ...seems like the Mexicans are the one's waving the Mexican flag all around. Never saw a Cuban flag flying over the American flag, or Salvadorian or Guatemalan or ? well you get the point.
Only the Mexicans are foolish/ignorant enought to tag themselves as such illegals AND apparently racists to do this sort of thing.
It's the overall stupidity and lack of constraint in reproduction they bring to the USA along with their strong backs that concerns me as it does. Frankly, I've found that many other hispanic nationals seem far more willing to speak or learn English than the Mexicans as well.
I think this is a pretty good list of why Mexicans are so singled out by thoe Americans that are concerned for the future of their country concerning the illegal immigration issue.

1. common language, common mistake
2. almost 68% of the illegals in the US are mexican. it's a terrible generalization, but not too far off from true.

Fun Fact:
There is an estimated 1% illegal Canadians and 5% United Kingdom and another 10% European..... so it's not even all about Central and South Americas

We don't, maybe you do, but I don't. I always say illegal.

But to be honest illegal Mexicans do make up the majority of illegals in the states. BUT I want ALL illegals deported.
I Don't care where they came from, they need to be sent back to the country they are a citizen of !!

Most pass through the Mexico / United States border to enter, regardless of country of origin.

Yes, but numbers are in their favor. They are the majority. And yes...ppl to have a problem with generalizing. An illegal is an illigal no matter what.

It is because the majority of immigrants that people see are Hispanics so right away they assume they are Mexican Oh and Lisa just so you Know we also share a border with Canada in case you have forgotten

Because the only one with which the USA shares a border is Mexico, and most of the illegals are coming from there.

Because the Mexicans are rude enough and disrespectful enough to stand out. As one protester said (yelling) we don't need no badges, we don't need no badges in his broken English, I hope his a*s has been deported by now, and that will show him who needs badges.
