i am not interested in being able to blow up the pictures. i want to be able to get regular prints and hopefully a good variety of scene selections, with a rechargable battery.

I would recommend the Casio Exilim line of digital cameras:

They are within your price range, and are available at Radio Shack at http://www.radioshack.com

I would look at the Exilim S500. It is a great , small, thin, light weight camera that feels metalic and strong. It takes great 5 megapixel photos, and even high-quality videos. Truely a marvel.

That is a great link to look for cameras...
I think the Canon 5 MP Powershot SD450 Digital Camera
Ultra-compact, 5 MP, 3x/4x zoom, 2.5" LCD, SD Card, Li-Ion battery
SD450 is your best deal...It is the third one on the list(NOT in the top sellers box) It takes almost the best pictures that can be taken... It has 5 megapixels and i think the highest is around seven... It is small and could definately fit in your purse! Its also very cute!

Sony Cybershot - 5.0 Mega pixels. Very sleek - fits in the tiniest purse.

You can also blow images up. I know you siad that you don't care about that, but cropping and blowing up can do wonders. Once you discover and use this feature, you will use it all the time.
