First of all, not all hispanics are mexicans or spanish from Spain. Second, America is the land of the free, we can talk whatever language we want to talk in. Third, dont be hating. Fourth, dont be stupid enough to say something about someone who is talking another language close to them, cause u never know when they understand. If you have a problem with a hispanic or whatever, say it to their face so they could beat the heck out of you. We are not trying to make America speak spanish, we just want to speak whatever we want to speak. And this is not a question, but you are welcome to say your opinions. Thank You, from La Boricua Bella!!!!

To walk down the street, and be judged for who I am, To not be To look through your eyes, And see everyone is not. To not look like you, To be different, Only Shows, That I am proud. Proud of who I am. how I look. where I come from. who I am. to not judge someone, for how they look.To be there for all. to see past the color. to see past the differences.to finally say,I am proud.

The place I come from.the pride that I have.to know my heritage,
and know who I am. to hear what my ancestors went through,
So I could live, with the joy in my heart, the love in my soul. to know what is right, and do what I do, Only shows,I am proud.

Proud of my life. to know what I know. to show everyone, the person I am, the heritage I know, the people I see. To walk with my head held high. To have pride in who I am. As my time draws near, I take a look back. I see what I have done.to remember the things I did. to know that I.. have made a difference, In the lives of those I know. to know that now,I still am proud.

Let a man decide, Let them learn to understand the sounds and motions. If man would pay attention to these preferences and seek what is best to do in order to make themselves worthy of that toward which they are so attracted, they might have dreams which would purify their lives.

May we learn .. to live together as one .....So that we may finally ...live together...in Peace....

and.... Akuna MATATA

I'm neither hispanic nor american, but I agree that in a country that claims to be "The Land of the Free" people should be free to speak their own language. I think you have a right to speak Spanish with your family, friends, in public and in your private homes, at work, at school, wherever. I believe, on the other hand, that if you wish to do business in America, you should do it in English to get the largest possible market, and because it is the language most spoken there, so most accepted.

I always find it funny when English-speaking Americans panic about the language issue when they've never even bothered to make English their official language. Did you know there are no language laws in the USA, so you can do whatever you want, in any language you please, and no one can say or do anything about it! HA!

I am not Hispanic but I do speak fluent Spanish. I understand some of what you are saying. When people ask "Do you speak Mexican?" I want to scream. Mexican is not a language!
I do what I can as a high school teacher to help my students to understand the differences and to be accepting.
We can not change the world but we can help to inform people one at a time.
Not everyone has the negative attitude that you described. Please remember that.
Lastly, you are right; we can speak whichever language you like. I did have a friend that went to a fast food resataurant and could not order because the clerk did not speak English. That was surprising to me. On 2 different occasions my mom and sister have phoned me on their cell phones and asked me to explain what they needed to a clerk who did not speak English. I think that if you are going to work with the public English should be a requirement, Spanish a bonus.
While English is not the official language of the US it is the common language that is used in schools, govt., etc.

About your second statement... English is the official language of the United States of America. We are not obligated to give you an education in any other language. Bottom line: Speak English, or dont talk to Americans that cant. I cant speak Spanish. In fact, you know what? I'm going to take Spanish in class this year instead of French so I can communicate with the immigants. You are right in a way. You can speak Spanish if you want, but that doesnt mean we have to ackknowledge you.I think YOU are the one that should be getting their facts straight!

Technically it is only a free country to it's citizens. In addition, Spanish speakers should be aware of what they say near English speakers as well. They also understand a lot. I think that your posting states a lot of why Hispanics and Americans are having a hard time getting along. It seems that new immigrants don't want to assimilate to their new country and culture. However, when we came here, it was expected.

first, i don't know what morons you hang out with, but everyone i know, knows that Hispanics are more than just Mexicans. second, it is considered rude and disrespectful to speak around someone in another language. third, it is ignorant ranting little girls like yourself that starts hate. fourth, what makes you think the people who are talking about you don't already know you can understand English? more importantly what makes you think they care?

I agree about the "all hispanics" thinng, because my family is Cuban and I hate how people assume all hispanics are Puerto Rican or Mexican. However, this is America and all official documents should be in English, and it bothers that people don't bother to learn English.

Your welcome to speak whatever you like but I think you should be at least able to communicate with the society around you and so should know English. You need to be able to ask questions and follow directions in an emergency and read street signs, etc. Also if you own a business, you should be able to communicate with your customers.

An interesting fact: the USA has no official language. So, I say, speak what you like!

If you want to come to America, then learn to speak the language of the people that founded the country. You must not be concerned with keeping your own language, heritage, and culture, because you gave it up to come be one of US.

And personally, I think people from spain are spaniards, people from mexico are wetbacks or beaners. But your peeps make really nice refried beans. Oh, and thanks for the guacamole!~~
