Depends where in South Scotland, Glasgow or Edinburgh perhaps. There are coach services, National Express I think. to Manchester City Centre and from there you can get a train link from Piccadilly Station. The airport is about 15 miles out of the city centre and the train takes 20 - 30 minutes straight in to terminal 2. From there you can take the moving walkway to the other terminals. There is a good train service that goes to both Glasgow and Edinburgh and the train splits into two at Carstairs, the front goes to Glasgow the back to Edinburgh. The coach is cheaper though unless you book the train well in advance. Try British Rail enquiries for prices or visit the National Express site for coaches.
