their is no "legal age" its just the age the parents find the child responsible enough to take care of themself.

It depends largely on the maturity of the child and the amount of time the child will need to be alone. I would check with your local social service agency to see if there is a set age at which a child is infact too young. If you decide your child is ready to stay home alone I would do some practice runs to see that your child can abide by rules set while they are home alone. I would also leave emergency numbers and a list of non emergency contacts (neighbors) incase your child needs something they are not capable of doing/getting on their own. I would not recommend leaving older children to watch younger children if they are just barely old enough to start staying home on their own. I hope this helps.

when you think they are resposible. Usually 11 or 12 some younger some older. I left mine alone at 11 for an hour at first .

i believe that there is a law in the U.S. that children are not aloud to be home alone for more than an hour if they are younger than 12 years of age.
