My daughter has a deveopmental delay.
When I was in school there was no such thing as a 'learning disability' They just put me in the back of the class and called me dumb.
I have been diagnosed with ADHD,OCD and anxiety.
My daughter aslo has the ADHD, anxiety, OCD on top of the developmental dely.

I was picked on incessantly as a kid. My daughter not AS BAD as there is much more awareness now. But some people will always be idiots.
Sorry..
But one tip: If they (the bullies) see you getting upset, they will do it all the more as it makes THEM feel better. So hold it in, till you get to the bathroom and then cry.

I have dyslexia; my spelling shows it a lot, but I learn how to work around the problems as I get older. Sometimes, a disability is an extra ability. Einstein was dyslexic, but that is what made him a genius.

not me, but there are schools that can teach you a career so you can be independent. When people with disabilities get together they all understand they're having something new to learn and they don't bully each other.

I have alot of them. What you have to do is say **** them cause your better then them...just cause you have autism doesnt make you less a person. In my opinion there accually lower then you cause in order to make themselves feel happy in there life they have to pick on pardon me for saying this but its through there eyes a "retart" and for some reason it makes them feel better. Again i was only useing that slur to justify the point. But look at it in 5 ten years...there gonna be pumping your gas your gonna be driving a lexus simple as that.

You betcha! These days the term used is physically and/or mentally challenged. I also have experienced being bullied. However, within my daily struggles in my attempts to learn, I was often discouraged by low marks in school. I had spend more hours to complete homework assignments, but just wanting to pass was important to me. Wanting to be somewhere close to what most considered to be "normal". One goal, I kept very close to heart at all times, was to keep my heals dug deep into the ground because I quickly learned I was in for a long term before I would acheive my dream goal. To most that goal, has no great significance, but to me, it meant life in its whole entity. I had witnessed more than I had wanted in the truth of self-destruction some had as the choice for their future, for their lives, and I knew...by seeing their end result of allowing their negative and destructive behavior done to themselves, who were very healthy individuals, it was a sad sight indeed. It was then, I decided, I wanted so much more, so much better of a life, and knowing the odds were against me, being born with these challenges, I was stirred by determination and kept focused on that one goal...my future...my success...don't quit until you get the prize. Therefore, in the days I faced with the bullies, the endless nights of homework just to start again, the next day...I recalled the self distruction I had witnessed, and it was enough to make me study harder, it made me stronger. I swallowed a lot of the ridicule, I survived many bruises, and kept by body clean and free of drugs, alcohol, and any substance that could hinder my focused goal, my prize...a good life...with success...with happiness...with pride to say I made it...I didn't give in and perhaps someday I will meet people who are like me, different, yes challenged, but unique in mine eyes view of the kind of world I want to have, and be in, and someday I will catch up and be able to share it. Well, here I am sharing that today, with you, on a computer at that, who figure! And in all the hard days, the determination pays of with such an overwhelming reward, and now new goals, I look forward to each and every day...and thankful for the gift of being challenged from birth, for that challenge was my open door to prove to myself all ability that dwells within me is transformed in endless beauty created by my will, by my mind and heart's view of my world, and the many beautiful people in it. Therefore, I am stirred easily, by those who reach out, and can reach back to them, openly, confidently as a live testament of success by gift of challenge. Thank-you for the question, and the opportunity to share my answer with you, hope that it was something you were searching for. Good luck!

Yes, I have ADHD. I can't concentrate on much of anything and am never stimulated by regular everyday activites like most people. I crave high-risk activities and get bored most days. I have problems doing homework and projects even if I like the subject.
