In the next few years when I join JROTC, I am still unsure of which branch I should join, either the Air Force or Navy. I want to become a pilot, but what would you think would be the best way for me to decide would be?

Talk with recruiters from both branches and discuss your options and the pros and cons of joining either branch. Once you are able to get enough information you can make an informed decision about what exactly you want to do. Good luck.

Both Branches have excellent Pilot programs but you cannot beat A pilotwith
Navy Gold Wings they are the absolute best in the world an air force pilot would not even know how to beginthe land a jet on a rolling and pitching 150 ft runway in the dark during a storm.

You need to look at the missions that each branch has and decide what type of pilot you want to be? The navy has mostly transport and fighters. The air Force has bombers, tankers, transport, fighters. The navy flyer's get to land and take off of air craft carriers. So if that is your desire, than navy would be the way to go. If that is not an issue than the air force has a better way of life. Even in the Officer corps.

The Navy has more pilots than the Air Force, it is bigger, but that doesn't mean it's easier to get into their flight program. The highest percentage of officers who are pilots is in the Coast Guard, but they won't be flying fighter jets. If you want to fly helicopters you don't have to be an officer and would have the best chance in the Army. The Marines also have pilots, jets & helicopters.

You should visit the web-sites for all five of the services and find out what the requirements for pilots are. It really comes down to what you want to fly.

Both branches have excellent pilots, but NAVY Pilots are the BEST period! Talk to some actual active duty pilots in a forum online or better yet, in person, then make your choice :)

Its all up to you.

No matter what branch you are in you will get paid the same cause it goes off or your rank. The both usually get out and do the same thing (commerical pilot) Just do your research and pick what you think you are most looking for in a career.

This depends on what you want to fly. If you want to make the military your career either will do. If you want to fly airliners after your military service then the air force is the one you want they have the big tankers and flying command post which are airliners without seats. You should really look at yourself do you really have the talent to be a fighter jock and if you do are you a top notch jock which you will have to be to get in a navy fighter.

The all too obvious sarcastic answer.... flip a coin.

If becoming a pilot is your goal, a deciding factor might be whether you'd rather land on the earth, or a large rolling boat.

Are you more afraid of heights or drowning? Pick one and then make the call. If you can't fly or learn to fly if you join the Air Force get used to scut work.
