Could someone help with copying programs?

How can I copy a full program to a cd or portable device. Whenever I copy them from the start menu, I am just copying the shortcuts.

you have to install the program in order for it to run,if you have a program all ready installed on the hard drive and you want to copy all the folder to a CD you could but it wont work, because when you install a program windows copy files from that program into a folder called system32 those files have extension DLL when you double click on an icon first thing the computer goes to those files and read the instruction from there. so if you copy the in tire folder to a CD then copy the CD to another computer the answer will be missing DLL.

Copy short cut will not work. Even copying the full program is no use since programs keep a lot data in registry. So you need a installable copy of program.

To copy the program press the Ctrl key at the same time.
If the program is already installed, the only way you could copy it so it's useful would be to copy it with True Image 8 as a clone.

It wouldnt matter anyway! You cant copy a program from your system and expect it to run on another! It has to be properly installed and this can only be done with the installation files which arent in the program!!!!!

you can copy programs by going to the program files folder in your C drive and copy folder of the programe you want to copy, it will only work with standalone programs or mostly freeware and not with other programs as they require specific registry keys which are done by a standard installation. try to find and copy installation files
