Huh...

So when the disciples came to Jesus and ask him to teach them to pray why did Jesus teach them to pray to the father?

Not trying to be difficult, but I never understood why so many Christians pray to Jesus.

Without Jesus we would all still be in our sins, so no one can come to the Father, except through him.

That said, let's consider baptism, where we become adopted children of God, co-heirs with Jesus Christ, and temples of the Holy Spirit.

Once baptized, we are members of God's immediate family, and we can pray to the Father, the Son, or the Holy Spirit directly, any time we choose!

I know of no true family, anywhere, where anyone is required to talk to the father, only through the brother.

As for Mary and the saints, they are alive and in heaven with God right now. They have received their reward. They have the ability to approach the throne of God.

We don't.

If they are willing to take our case before God, and intercede for us, so much the better.

They are holy and complete. We are miserable sinners. They can ask God for favors and merit receiving them. We rarely deserve to receive what we pray for.

If Mary or one of the saints chooses to go to God on our behalf, and God grants our request as a favor to them, we win.

This happens way more often than anyone would think. Catholics know this. The rest are needlessly missing out on the opportunity of a lifetime.

Mary was His mother. The saints were His worshippers. It doesn't make them holy like God. They should read the Bible if they want to know the truth about Jesus.

who has made the others saints? they are His friends, His disciples...if they cud stand here today, they would tell you to quit looking at them as if they are Jesus, they were here to TEACH you about Jesus, first of all. And yes, Jesus is the way and the truth and u can not enter heaven unless it is with and through Him, He who is the way, the truth, the beginning and the end. now, the catholics, they pray to mary, and Jesus did honour His mother, but i do not think He intended any man to pray to her! You are to pray through Jesus Christ!!! because u cannot go to the Father unless it is through Him, do you understand?

Jesus told us to pray to God the Father (Matthew 6:9-13, the Lord's prayer)

I find it interesting that you suggest Catholic read the KJV Bible to find the truth, when the KJV Bible is a version of the Bible that took out the verses people didn't like. Sounds like truth to me.

Actually, you pray to God directly. You include Jesus as your intercessor. In other words, you are saying to God, "It is only through the sacrifice of Jesus that I am worthy to speak to you. You also say, "Jesus found man worthy enough to die for." These are the basis for prayer TO God, through Jesus. Catholics believe in a confessor who is annointed by God to forgive their sins directly. Of course, that does not preclude catholics from praying to God directly for forgiveness. Additionally, don't you think a confession means more if you are saying it with another person in the room? Even the non-catholic Christians believe that repentance requires a confession (if only to God). I am not 100 percent sure the idea of requiring a personal confessor is a bad one.

You are right that we should not be praying to Mary or to the Saints (they are humans like us).

We should be praying directly to the Christian God, in Jesus' name.

Cordially,
John

i was raised catholic and found out that the father son and holy spirit are one. I became a nondenominational christian because catholism is rediculous to worship mary. She sinned like all of us, any catholics who want to argue with me fine Im me anytime. The catholic church is european and outdated and needs to be dissolved. The true church is not a building but a people who follow Jesus.
