I've just started college and already I gettiing slammed with work. But lately I've been feeling depressed and I really don't know why. Even when I was in high school there were times where I felt depressed for no reason. My parents think I'm just being silly. Also,I've been having suicidal thoughts lately and that's just not like me to think about things like that. What should I do?

please get help.

depression does not go away on it's own...

talk to someone, your counselor or a pastor.

You are not being silly - if you had a cold, you'd see doctor.
When you are blue, you need to feel better.

Please take care of yourself. You have your whole life ahead of you! God bless you -

Go to the college counselling center at once.

You are having what would be termed "adult adjustment problems", and I suspect you have had a warm and supportive family life, and it is quite a shock to the psyche to feel so far away, so alone, with so many responsibilities, and no "on site" coach.

Get someone to talk to (as in therapist or counsellor), and while you are doing that, get a journal and write down your thoughts and activities every day. You will find it very therapeutic, and it is remarkable how much insight it will give you into yourself. Get out and get involved in a service frat or sorority. Gives you a group, and these organizations generally gather people who are also kind and supportive, less competitive and "snooty" than their purely "social" counterparts.

Please, if you can, don't let them talk you into medications, as that dampens your ability to work through this and grow from it.

If you are truly suicidal, disregard the above sentence.

If you have a good school counselor I would visit that person and see if they can guide you. If not, you need to go to a Psychologist for an evaluation and possibly some medication. I am proud of you to want to help yourself and not be afraid to ask for help. So many of us don't and that is just sad.
I would let your parents know after you seek help and ask for their support, not judgment. I have a feeling it may just be clinical depression and easily solved for you. Prayers and Success for you always.

I agree that you are clinically depressed- and the stress from college is probably showing it more. Talk with a counsellor. And tell your parents.

Good luck, and lots of it!

You need to reach out to someone. Talk it out. And, it cannot be overstated that excercise is the number one best remedy. So, find somebody to go jog with or get to the gym. It works!
