In April 2007 do you think that will be extended to 9 months fully paid maternity leave?

yes you will be entitled if you worked for them prior to the 11th or 15th week of pregnancy.
I am unsure of the extension date yet.

The DWP is going through many changes none of them good, less and less staff are running the departments but have to do more and more work.
I don't think you will get more than 6 months as the govt don't employ people who will want time off.
Don't count on the govt being good employers if you're not already join the union quick before it is too late

It looks likely that it will be extended to nine months. See the following link and scroll down to "Expected changes for 2007". If they didn't think it would be extended they wouldn't have stated this on their website. However, you may only get 6 months full pay and 3 months of smp. It all depends on your employer and how they react to this "change".

It will only be 9 months if you're baby is due on or after the specified date in April.

Why should anyone get any money at all for the so called work you do the whole department should be shut down along with parliament

not really sure i got 6months @ £100 per week and 6mths unpaid
