yes. That's the whole point of repenting. If you repent and claim Jesus as your savior, then your reward is eternal life. If you don't... you can look forward to eternal damnation.

Hello!! :o) I believe [as a Christian] that the Bible tells us that those who do not believe in Jesus [and follow His teachings] will eventually perish - as in 'exist no more'. [John 3:16] So I do NOT believe that the punishment for sin is a never ending torment. But the process of getting to where one 'exists no more' will be an extremely unpleasant one. For those who have already died - unsaved - are aware of their destiny. How long one suffers before they 'exist no more' will depend upon how greatly they sinned while they were alive on earth. This is the purpose of the 'Great White Throne Judgment'. The idea that my Aunt Elsie who never came to believe in Christ [although a wonderful woman in most respects] AND that Adolf Hitler will BOTH be tortured and tormented FOREVER - flies in the face of logic and reason. Besides - IF what I'm saying is not true - than the idea of the 'Great White Throne Judgment' is a farce. I mean - if ALL who were not saved receive the same punishment [regardless of what they did] then what difference would it make HOW they are judged. Craig!! :o)

The Disciples said you must be sincere in your repentance. Have you asked Jesus into your heart with sincerity and not just to get out of trouble. If you have than you are in the begining of a personal relationship with the Savior and you will easily ask for repentance. But the key is walking away from the Sin and not always repeating. It is hard but that is why the gate to hell is wide and the gate to etenal life is narrow. God Bless

The bible says that the wages of sin is death in other words at death we've paid the price for our sins. Romans 6:23
The bible does not teach that there is a literal place of eternal hellfire. Ecclesiastes 9:10 (Sheol is the Hebrew word for Hell)

well, there are different opinions in different religions.
my opinion is no, they will not burn in eternal hellfire.

because you used that terminology i am going on the assumption that this is one branch of christian theology. based on christian ideology, i would say no you will not burn because "god" would realize that god had made a world full of unique human being full of human frailties and even physical disabilities. if a person with alzheimers (very bad physical memory problems dealing with the brains functioning) sinned and did not remember, they then could not confess their sings. i do not believe they would roast in hell. there are scriptures in the bible that speak of grace over works. grace is a gift, undeserved to anyone it is given to. acording to those scriptures one is not saved by works "lest any person should boast" but by grace (a gift undeserved) therefore, confessing is an action, a work. there is an initial statement about one confessing with their mouths. however, this too should be examined because some people are mute and cannot confess with their mouths. my interpretation is that if one accepts that grace offered by god then they are accepting that jesus died on the cross for their sins, ALL of their sins and the sins are eternally paid for.

i hope that offered some insight. Also, different religions will put magnifying glasses on certain parts of their holy book to illuminate a certain section in order to control people a certain way. however, this emphasis on one thing over another changes as time changes and as they feel the need to control people in different ways. (take interracial marriages. at one point they said it was worthy of burning in hell. now their opinion has changed. and yes they used bible versus to back it up and now they have stopped and looked at other areas. the same was true for devorce. now the latest hot topic is "samesex marriage" and they list leviticus. however, everyone would go to hell these days by that book because we mix cotton and wool fabrics (also in leviticus) etc.

so, my advice is, rely on grace if you identify as a christian and consentrate on your own relationship with whoever you believe is your devine spiritual source and don't judge other people for their relationships with whomever they believe is their devine spiritual source. their would be alot less bloodshed and unrest in the world today if people weren't so self righteous and concentrated on their own relationships with their gods over their religious performance for the rest of the world to see...

Why take the chance?

Repent. The end may be nearer than you think!

Is it too difficult to apologize every day to God for our shortcomings, and to do what's necessary to make amends, if only to do what's right and enjoy peace of mind?

the bible says that you should seek salvation through Christ Jesus. Jesus said that you should be baptised and confess your sins.

if asking Christ for foregiveness is equivalent in His eyes as repenting, then you are okay.

if not, then the person is doomed for eternity according to the book.

NO...
Some may go right to hell, most will not, God knows the hearts, God is merciful and compassionate like no other, 100times more. These people may go to Heaven, although they may not have the privilege to see God right off, they have some learning to do..... they have teaching up there, God would give you every chance in Heaven in order you not go to hell... remember He's compassionate and merciful.

Yeah and what happens if you repent and then commit more sin?

if you try to be a good person, you'll be fine. what lies beyond, if anything, is entirely up to you. you shouldn't be concerned with rules originally intended to inspire fear that tell you how to live your life. do what you think makes you a good person and relax. being uptight about this stuff can't be good.
