Well at his age, he should be interested in girls by now. Maybe you could tell him he's getting to be a man now and ask him if he would like it if a pretty girl sees him or some other boys at school see and make fun of him.
If he's in special ed, then it's OK. But if he's normal, you need to encourage him to start growing up or your son is going to have problems with bully's in school and he won't be able to hold a relationship when he's old enough to date.
If you tend to baby him, you might want to stop now and start teaching him a little independence.

Wow. I would say 5, MAX, even though the recommended limit on the carts is younger. If he sounds like he's joking, forget about it. If he sounds serious, maybe you should talk to him. Some of my friends like sitting in the ride-on carts, but not for real, just for a joke or to take pictures, not serious. Besides, isn't he too big to even fit in the cart? But yes, that's kind of unusual for normal 13yo boys. I'm not trying to be rude, but does he have a mental handicap or learning disability? If he does, just tell him nicely no, and that he has to let the other kids have a turn to "drive the Batmobile". Actually, that may work even if he's not mentally challenged.

I think when he's old enough to push the cart himself. Otherwise you've just got this child at your knees begging you for every item in the grocery store that contains chocolate and/or sugar. Be greatful he is in a place you can control him. But if you're embarassed by your child, that's not good.. You shouldn't be.
If you really don't want him to anymore, attempt reverse psychology and say something like, "hey, I bet you can't push the cart while I shop." or "I bet you'll never stop driving the batmobile" or whatever.
Good luck!

HaHa! Not so unusual if you are in Austin Texas, as folks here tend to be a bit childlike with their grocery carts! I've seen big grown men using their cart as a scooter, and guys riding in the basket while their girlfriend pushes! LOL

Well, yeah it's kinda unusual. But don't worry. It's not that bad! U should tell him what u think (that only small kids use the "batmobile" and it's childish, explain him that he's a "big boy") and maybe he will stop doing that. If not, just wait! i'm 100% sure that he wont "drive the "Batmobile" when he will be 15 or 18

My oldest stopped at about 3yrs old and my younger one at 2 and half(almost 3). Since you do have older children to help you out, you could keep your quad stroller you currently have for the twin boys that will be one and for the 2yr old. Your most likely going to have to get a separate stroller for the new baby. You can have your daughters help push them when you are out and about or I'm sure your husband will help.
