I dont have the original.....Im trying to delete everthing so it will be brand new again...I used the disc on a compa presario, and it worked fine, it now has media edition....

usually every cpu have differnt
configuration
so better call dell and ask them to send u compatible cd
they will charge shipping only
why dont u restore from the starting then u dont need any cd
press f8 when coputer just turned on
and follow the command
that is the best option

I'd think not, but it seems you have some experience with loading gateway files on another company's laptop. On the other hand, you won't need the Dell recovery disk if you have a separate copy of the operating system of your choice.

well the detail is that these 'DELL PEOPLE" I would say they make there computer not friedly enough, I will doubt that once u start it will probably give u and error u will need to find a windows xp "underground" or call 1800 dell and pay the price...
