it is your choice, you can either get an honorable discharge or you can remain active duty. you get 45-60 days of maternity leave after your baby is born. you will also have to come up with a family care plan if you are single or if your husband is also in the military. that is a list of 3 people who would be able to care for your child if you were to be deployed.

Oh, are you misguided -- YES you still serve -- I did. The amount of maternity leave for the new mother (who is on active duty) is determined by whether the mother had a vaginal delivery or a c-section.

You can recieve a honorable (or general) discharge under chapter 8.
Current Army regulations authorize 6 weeks of post-partum convalescent leave after a soldier has given birth, beginning when the soldier is discharged from the hospital. This is often followed by several weeks of regular leave, which can be granted by the soldier’s commander. Additionally, the Department of Defense (DOD) has issued a regulation allowing military members who are new mothers or one member of a dual military family who adopts a child, a 4-month period during which they are exempt from deployments.

This was an issue of great problems during the Gulf war. There were countless women who wanted equal rights and wanted to be the rough tough military person. Then when it got to the nitty gritty...
Ooops I'm Pregnant I can't go.
Well, so many did this and mostly non married women and many didn't even know who the fathers were that it was clearly an effort to dodge going over seas.
I think they now have laws about women who get pregnant during time of war. So you should go to your local recruiters office and ask for the following books, "UCMJ", If navy the "NAVY REGS"

No you stay in the usa. A baby needs its mother. The only way I think is if the mother decides too. Or if the baby is old enough to stay with a family member lyk the grandmother or father of the child.

I think you still have to serve for whatever time you signed up for. I am not 100% sure though, so maybe you should ask someone in charge.
