To me, it means the most precious thing in life because it is my daughter's name, chosen by her sister, who shares the title of most precious. Archaic meanings of a name are less significant than why your parents named you Elizabeth. If they are around, as them what it means to them and why they gave you that name.

Elizabeth or Elisabeth is the Greek form of the Hebrew Elisheva, the mother of John the Baptist in the New Testament.
(She was descended from Aaron in the Old Testament whose wife was also named Elisheva).

(E·liz′a·beth) [Gr., E·lei·sa′bet from Heb., ’E·li·she′va‛, meaning “My God Is Plenty; God of Plenty”].
Interesting point: Elizabeth was the name of John the Baptizer's mother, who also had help from God to get pregnant, but he did have a human father: Zechariah. (Both were too old to have children on their own, just like Abraham and Sarah, so God helped them, so that his purpose would be carried out in each case)
which is why I named my daughter Sara Elizabeth, because I give credit to God for my daughter :) (Although, I was still in my 20s LOL)
