The Evo and the STi are the fastest, the 'Stang has the most torque. The Evo and STi are also all-wheel drive, and te Ford is only rear-wheel drive, making it hard to handle in snow and such. You can modify the heck out of any of them with great results, too.
The only downside the Evo RS is it strips the car of A/C, power anything, sound deadening/insulatoin, and I think even the radio? Go for the MR (Mitsubishi Racing). It gets a 6-speed, special BBS rims, Vortex generators on the rear window, and a carbon fibre wing. Plus rumor is it has more power (but Mitsu won't admit it).

A 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STI would actually be the best of all three. Not only will it provide high quality performance, but you'll be saving your time and money. Fords and Mitsubishis are not exactly known for their overall quality; though they may look good and be temporarily stable, you might end up regretting it in the future.

The WRX by far has the most going for it. Torque to weight ration, handling, suspension, resale value, style, longevity (it is exotic enough that it won't be out of style 10 years from now, unlike the lancer or the mustang). Let's not forget it's the cheapest of the three (especially if you are going with the standard transmission).
Seems like a no-brainer.

mehhh. a guy i know who works at gm says mitsub. has terrible parts, but he's obviously VERY biased; I still think Honda's and Toyotas are more reliable than any purely domestic cars, but I would think the Mustang GT would be the best out of these three for the money
