It would seem to me that if it were going to go chronologically, it should be towards the very end of the Old Testament. How is the Catholic Bible arranged, if not chronologically? Thanks.

The Books in the Bible are placed there according to type of book. The first five are the penteteuch, which is the story of the Israelites. These books are also found in the Torah. Then come the history of teh Jewish Judges, then the kings. Next come the morality stories, then the wisdom books, then the prophets.

The Old Testament Books of the Catholic Bible are grouped by type. 1 Maccabees is included in the Historical Books:

1 Samuel
2 Samuel
1 Kings

These are followed by the Wisdom Books starting with Job.
