OOOOOHHHHH! Get an edible image (bakery will know) of the sheet music for "your song" and put it with the cake you choose!
That would be so perfect!
Bring a copy of the sheet music in when you order your cake, and they can copy and transfer the image onto "sugar paper" totally edible.
VERY MEMORABLE AND UNIQUE!

A groom's cake made in the shape of a drum would be the easiest. It could still be the traditional chocolate.
While chocolate is traditional, I believe that you can use whatever type of cake or whatever flavors your groom likes. My fiance doesn't like cake at all so he's getting groom's brownies. :)

First,why not ask him being that the grooms cake is for him but have it made out of chocolate otherwise it is a little werid.

Depends on his taste. I agree with everyone else here, if he's into one thing more than another, go with that. Casually feel out what he'd prefer. Don't come right out and say it, but possibly find a music store and drive by or walk by or what not if it's possible and ask him what his favorite instrument is.

Does he like one of those instruments more than another? Have it made out of the one he likes the most, or a musical note. i personally like the guitar, but pick the instrument that means the most to him.

What about a cake that looks like a boom box? Any of the ones you mentioned would be great since he likes music.

That's a great idea to have a cake for your fiance of one of his hobbies. My sister's friend and husband both love music so when they got married, their wedding theme was "the musical pair". I think the guitar cake or drum cake will be great.

A drum would be the easiest (and least expensive), however I think a guitar would be awesome.
What instrument does he play? That should be your answer. If he doesn't play, who is his favorite artist and what does s/he play. If he is a Billy Joel fan go for the piano, but if he is into NIN then go for the guitar.
