My mom is moving out of Saten Island in 2 years and I don't want to leave Staten Island. There for I have 2 years to get my high school diploma and get 2 jobs so that I can afford to pay my rent. I have to get myself together before she leaves if not I have no choice but to go with her. THAT IS THE LAST THING I WANT! I am a 18 year old high school drop out trying to get my life going on the right path so I can be independent. Feed myself, pay rent and bills. But, I only have 2 years. Living in New York, that will be hard to do, due to the fact rents are extreamly high. Please help! I need all the advice I can get. Please! This is stressing me out. I cant have any fun becouse this is all I think about!

Start by getting your GED. That will make everything else a little easier.

Also, you might want to get on the section 8 waiting list. Start now and you might have rental assistance when your mom is ready to leave Staten Island.

Good Luck.

Finish school, however you have to. Get some training and get a job. That's what we grownups have to do when we want to be independent.

If you want it bad enough, you can do it. Just put your eye on the goal and plow straight ahead. GOOD LUCK!!!

Mocoa... WTF are you talking about? Call the cops and complain of what?? The poster is an adult, and her mom neither has to support her not take her feelings/goals into account. If they poster wants to live in NY, she'll have to make it on her own.

"I can't have any fun".... whine some more and welcome to the real world; welcome to life.
