To answer whether or not God exists goes beyond surface knowledge. My favorite answer to one question was, I only believe in what I can see. You can't see wind but you know it's there, you can't see air but it makes it so we can breath. The awareness of gravity itself is based on theory and mans speculation yet no one would questions it is there. Why then can people so easily believe in mans theories of creation, mans theory in science but yet can't believe there could be a creator behind all these things in which man can't prove could otherwise exist?

I can't help but reply in relation to your comment Brenda's World. Man also didn't know the world was round at some point and believed it was flat. To say that because mankind hasn't determined if creation is from mankind or god as an excuse for defaming religion is pretty sad.

I apologize for referencing in my last comment as that persons thought being sad. As I respect we are all entitled to our own opinion. It just supports my question. That he/she obviously didn't think very hard before answering.

I heard another interesting point that is the opposite of this: There is no such thing as an atheist. :) A true philospher would like this kind of thinking. Here it goes:

In order to know without a shadow of a doubt that there is no God, then a person would have to have 100% of all the knowledge in the universe. If a person was even capable of having 99.9% of the all the knowledge in the universe, there would still be a .1% chance that God exists in the little sliver of what they don't know. If a person did have 100% knowledge of all the universe, that person would be God. SO, there is no such thing as atheists..only agnostics.

That's a very good question. The reason religious people answer questions about God without thinking first, is because religious believers suffer from a common mental illness.

If we assume the universe was created, then it’s reasonable to assume there was a creator. That’s as far as science has progressed today, but just look how far religion has progressed.

Religion states (fact) there was a creator called God, that God still exists, God also created places called Heaven & Hell, God wrote an instruction book called the Bible, God will banish evil people to Hell, God will send good people who follow the Bible to heaven, that people referred to in the Bible (like Jesus) will return to Earth, and a whole raft of other statements of fact. That’s right, religious fact, not assumptions.

Now tell me truthfully, if science doesn’t even know yet whether the universe was created or not, but religious believers state: “not only was the universe created by God, here’s a whole lot more proof and facts to go with it, what do you think?

Either religious believers just have vivid imaginations or suffer from a common mental illness. I think commonsense and logic would suggest that religious believers are mentally handicapped, but they should at least make an effort to think before they attempt to answer questions about a God.

So where's your evidence that God exists? Is it because you can't see a God therefore a God exists? That sounds more like insanity talking.

Sometimes emotion gets mixed up in the response. Belief in God should be more than just blind faith. There are historical facts that must be looked into. But because no one can actually show you God in person, there is an element of faith involved. The same can be said for the argument over the theory of evolution. There is an element of faith involved in believing that also. There are many holes in the theory can't be explained. Just saying that you can't question the theory because you're religious, makes the theory a religion of it's own. Data shouldn't be looked at through that kind of lens.

I think basically that most people are being raised up wrong, for one thing most homes are either one parent homes and the parents all have to work so therefore daycares are what is raising our kids. We arent' allowed to whip our children the way the bible says to "spare the rod and spoil the child", so kids turn into adults with no upbringing and no cares about anything but themselves. It's all leading up to the end of time eventually where most people are wrapped up in theirself rather than God the way it should be. Cause if you read on here enough you see so many people don't believe in God and they disrespect God. Wish you luck on your quest for an answer.

You're right - since we haven't found an answer to every single question yet, we should just give up and call it God. *eyeroll*

The theories that science comes to are forged with the scientific method, meaning they can be tested, reproduced, and used to predict. God does not fall in this category, and so using him to explain away every mystery is un-academic.
