I'm trying to gain weight too, and the doctors say that medication is a very unhealthy way to do it. Count your calories on a normal day, then you need to eat 1,000 more calories than that to gain weight. So start counting your calories and figure out ways to get 1,000 more in. I know it's hard, i have an EXTREMELY hard time getting that much in (2500 calories). Something that the doctors suggested was "Carnation instant breakfast", which adds an extra 500 calories. Any drinks like that will help you! You can get those at your local health food store or GNC.

All of the above depending on how the med effects the individual. As far as I know, it's usually increased appetite or increased appetite for sweets leading to diabetes type II. Then again, there are some meds that can cause a metabolic change in some ppl from the beginning, and others that will cause weight gain at start up but not afterwards. When I started Lithium, I gained about 5 pounds in two weeks. It was gone in a month or so without dieting. When I started Depakote, OMG, I have never been so hungry in my life - constant, non-stop, unnatural hunger. That wore off some months and a bunch of lbs later. My intake is down, but I'm not loosing weight like I should be. Sucks big time. It's a med known to do both. I hate it, but my brain likes it. I've rambled. Sorry, I don't know specifics about Haldol, but since it's an old school antipsychotic, diet. I think it might be a med prone to cause metabolic changes in some ppl. Give it a month or two before you jump there. Often there is a start up effect that wears off. Of course, a really good resource should be your doctor.

It is normal to be 13 and underweight. Once puberty hits, it'll be much much easier for you to gain weight particularly muscle. In the meantime, you can try eating more. Sometimes the only thing those who are underweight can do is to eat, eat, and eat even when you are not hungry. Make sure you are eating a well balanced diet though. Eating fast food all the time for instance will help you gain weight but it's more fat than anything else. And you don't want that. You would be even more embarrassed about changing your clothes then.

Yes It is called FOOD and Eating after 9pm and going right to BED this will get weight on you, Fatty foods, who told you that you were under weight? You really should not be warring about your weight in time you will gain the older you get and. Unless your doctor is concerned you should not be, There are so many other things that you should be concern with like making good grades and being help full around the house/community.

I would not use any medication not prescribed by my doctor. If you want to gain weight, eat a high protien diet.
