When people ask this question, they often do so with the implication that what was done to Jesus was a crime.
Was the treatement he received inhumane? Yes. But look at ancient Roman culture of the time. And crucifixion was considered so barbaric, even by the Romans, that it was often used only for non-Romans.
Was the punishment he received illegal? No. Jesus was viewed as both a religious heretic and a political rebel. The Jews, particularly the leaders of the Temple, turned against Him because He committed acts that were considered heretical and blasphemous. The Romans considered His and His followers' claims that He was divine to be treason against the divinity of the emperor. But even Pilate said that there was nothing that this man had done that he should be killed for. Still, to appease the masses, Jesus was excuted.
And wasn't Jesus fate to die? Wasn't that what he was sent here for?
So I hold Him and God accountable for His death, because God turned His back on Him. And some Christians claim that Jesus is God, so who had more power to change His fate then He did?
Since this destiny was carried out, who else could there be to blame, since they all were pawns in a divine plan?

Whattupfool,
"Who do you hold responsible for the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ?"
It was the instigation of the Religious Hierarchy at the hands of the Romans who were in power. That being said, it does not explain everthing.
"Do not tell me he died for our sins....thats given....but he did not voulunteer to be crucified."
Yes He did volunteer to be crucified. He called it hundreds of years before. He didn't suddenly come into existence at His conception, He always was before the beginning. He even described the method of His death. Hundreds of years before. He described what He would do during His life on Earth. He described what He would do after all that. So there is still much for you to learn.
"whats your opinion who do you think killed Christ and why?"
They killed him in the way He was killed because that was one of the ways Romans executed people. Once again, He called it.
He died so that those the Father chose would be saved. It's simple really. Bloody, but simple. It's not rocket science.

This is a question which has an answer with many facets.
1. Christ died for the sins of the world; so, we all share responsibility for His death
2. The Roman government actually crucified Him
3. The Jewish leaders arrested Jesus and brought charges against Him, and then demanded that He be crucified when Pilate wanted to let Jesus free
4. Perhaps Jesus did not volunteer to be crucified, as you put it, but He did willingly and knowingly obey God and did not save Himself when He was fully capable of doing so.

Everyone whoever sinned is responsible because if it werent for our sins, he wouldnt have had to be there.
Jesus was found innocent in a Roman court of law, nor was a charge given by Herod. But the people who were directly responsible were the Teachers of the Law (ancient Jews) at that time.........
For the third time he spoke to them: "Why? What crime has this man committed? I have found in him no grounds for the death penalty. Therefore I will have him punished and then release him." But with loud shouts they insistently demanded that he be crucified, and their shouts prevailed. -Luke 23:22

Actually, he DID volunteer. He knew exactly what was going to happen. Remember before the Passover, he told 2 disciples to go to Jerusalem in the afternoon and "follow a guy with a jug of water." Men in that culture didn't carry water and no one carried it in the afternoon, yet Jesus looked through time and saw this event and used it to guide the disciples to an available room for them to prepare for the Passover.
Jesus was a long distance away and knew Lazarus had died. Jesus told the "woman at the well" her life's story. Several times Jesus told his disciples about the coming crucifixion... Jesus saw time and space in the same way God does.

somebody that under no circumstances existed might desire to no longer be killed! The bible is what's called "Faction" A fictional tale set in a real time and place. hence the time, place and actual historic characters are all splendid however the fictitious characters and memories at the instant are not! there is no longer one single point out of Jesus interior the finished Roman checklist - it is ideal - no longer one! on the comparable time as he grew to become into meant to have been around there have been a number of Jews claiming to be the messiah - all of whom are properly recorded! there is no longer a single modern checklist from any source or maybe the bible mentions of him like all different references weren't written till some years after his meant dying! He grew to become into meant to have been a great situation to the Romans and produced impressive miracles yet nonetheless no longer one modern checklist? Even the bible mentions of him like all different references weren't written till some years after his meant dying! Pilate is recorded interior the Roman checklist as a extremely lack luster guy yet no point out of a Jesus, an ordeal or crucifixion that would easily have been used to make him look brighter! At ideal he grew to become into an amalgam of those others yet just about truly under no circumstances existed!

You were. And I. And every other person who has ever done something wrong (called sin). We made it so that he had to go to the cross in order to provide a way of forgiving and cleansing us from sin.
It may have been Judas Iscariot who betrayed him...
It may have been the Jews who arrested him....
It may have been Pilate who ordered the execution....
It may have been the Roman soliders who drove the nails...
...but it is was each of us who is responsible for the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ.

First of all He knew it was going to happen before the earth was spoken into existence. He could have stopped right there, but there are some of us that he loves so much he was willing to pay the price. He did it also for those of you who says it never happened. But,the Romans and the Jews did it. Don't blame the Jews who live today for the sins of their people 2000 yrs.ago.

Jesus knew full well of his coming passion. he made many a statement about it. After the last supper. He prayed in wait and sweat blood a condition known as hematosis, The most severe fear. He said no man taketh my life , I lay it down. Greater love has no man than to give his life for a friend.
The last supper was the passover meal , when they sat the saida, only one thing was missing. The sacrificial lamb. As john the baptist said said " Behold the lamb of God"
The first to kill in the Bible was God. He killed a lamb and clothed Adam and eve , who are covered by the blood of the lamb.
He always knew, this was his purpose. I blame no one.

Jesus Christ. He gave himself up willingly into their hands.
As far as who killed Jesus, Roman soldiers doing their job. Like police officers following a script (the ones who follow it) going by the will of the people or courts etc.
