I love blackberry pie. Pecan is oh so good. I like cherry, key lime is great if it is made well. Fruits of the Forrest is yummy. I can make a fantastic apple pie, or blueberry,or rhubarb or a variety of combinations.

English meat and potato.
Make up shortcrust pastry using
8 oz plain flour
4 oz butter
sprinkling of salt.
Chill the butter and cut into small cubes and rub into the flour with fingertips until it resembles breadcrumbs. Add cold water, about 9 tablespoons and knead until a dough is made which is not too sticky. Place in fridge whilst you cook the filling.
Filling
one or two medium potatoes cut into 1/2 in cubes. 1 onion finely chopped. 4 oz meat. (Can be minced (ground) beef or leftover from a joint or stewing steak cut into small pieces). Fry the meat and onion in a little olive oil. Make up 1 pint of stock (Beef stock cube will do). When meat is browned and onion clear add stock and potatoes (and can add a little thinly sliced or chopped carrot if desired) with a little salt and pepper and cook until potato tender. I also personally add a dash of soy sauce and some dried mixed herds. Can also add dash of tomato puree. Simmer until liquid almost gone.
Cut pastry in half and roll out thinly on a floured surface. Place half on buttered pie plate and prick around with fork. Add filling and some of gravy. Moisten edge of pastry with cold water, roll out other half of pastry to form a lid and place on top, sealing edges by pressing a fork all around. Pierce lid, decoratively with a few cuts by inserting knife to allow steam to escape. Use any left over pastry to decorate lid. Brush lid with beaten egg or milk and place in pre-heated oven. Cook for about half an hour at 180C.
Serve sliced with french fries, peas and gravy.
Delicious and can be eaten hot or cold.
