Since you didn't really ask a question, I'll assume you are asking about the final part of the scripture...and by the way, its chapter 2. At the time, It is supposed that Mary and Joseph had gotten used to Jesus being their child and they treated Him as such. However, this was to be the first of many such occasions where He began to establish that there was a difference in who He was and who they perceived Him to be.
This would simply be a human reaction, and common even among the disciples.

At the early age of 12 Jesus would go to teach in the Synogouges and his earthly parents , were surprised to see him standing in the center of the Temple, teaching. He was teaching the people and it was all in regards to his Heavenly Father. So in other words, Jesus would teach the word of God in the Temples . Being Jesus was so young, this is what his earthly parents didn't understand. They figured he would be out playing or doing other things , that other children his age would do.

Well if you had the Son of God to bring up would you understand?
I know to have a perfect child would be great. But still I would worry where He had been for that lenth of time. I think I would have been crazy to just have that said to me by a 12 year old. after looking for Him for ages, I would have thought He would say sorry for the worry I have caused you.

Yep. He was old enough at that time to recognize God as his father, and spent time in the synagogue with the teachers. Mary probably thought of Joseph as Jesus' father, so she didn't understand what he meant by this.

Jesus knew 'who he was' in the flesh---as we all should---being about God's business should be all of humanity's goal...
Referring to God as Father is common from days of old, actually Its Father/Mother/God---there is no gender in Spirit...
Be about your spiritual business and that's what Jesus meant.
Take care

"But they did not understand the statement which he spoke to them."
Now will anyone really, who knows what the heck that really meant. Too many individual translations are possible...

Maybe that's where the whole "spare the rod, spoil the child" thing came in.
