I agree with Wright, if it still has pressure the next day then you replace the radiator cap they only cost about $5. The upper hose does not always have a spring in it.

The radiator cap is designed to hold pressure up to its rating..Water under pressure has an increased boiling point temperature..The pressure release allows coolant and excess pressure to flow into the overflow bottle. Then as the system cools, a vacuum is created and the coolant flows back into the system. Let the vehical sit over night and then check the hose..There shouldnt be any pressure on the system then...

There is supposed to be some pressure. But,if there is too much the pressure cap may be stuck. Get a new one. I think 17 lbs. pressure is normal.

if your refering to the radiator the top hose has a metal spring like inside it to hold it in the right shape
