For example some women would love flowers on a first date, but others would find this over the top and creepy - so how do you establish the boundary?

I think that it is relative to the individual. I agree that this is a little over the top for a first date, but maybe a couple of flowers on a second or third date is ok. An immediate show of wealth or showering with gifts makes one look a little desperate (the exception being offering to pick up a dinner check). Also the difference would be in romance, both parties are attracted to each other, creepy only one side is more interested than the other. Hopefully that makes sense and good luck :-)

A bunch of flowers on a first date is over the top. Even one flower can be risky, unless you're sure she's interested in you in a romantic way.

A while ago, a friend invited me over to her place so she could make dinner for the two of us. We had flirted a little before, so I totally thought it was a "date". I brought her one single flower.

Oops. She emailed me the next day and said she really just wanted to be friends. To this day, I still wonder if I'd have been more successful if I didn't come right out with the stupid flower.

one flower as above, picked maybe, not bought. A small one, something cute. I'll tell you for me, the man that liked me brought me flowers on our dates, i loved it. Well, creep was when we weren't really serious and I was going to see someone else and this creepy guy knew the othre guy was gonna be at my house, and he left flowers in a path up my walkway (which would have been sweet had we been bf/gf) but turned out to be creepy cause i knew why he was doing it....

I don't know very many women who would think flowers on a first date to be creepy. Showing up on her door step with a piece of jewelry would be creepy! If it would freak you out, chances are it will freak her out. So just use common sense.

the difference if you just meet this person for a week, but if you knew them for years and just now going on a date flowers for the one you knew for a week is creepy but years is romantic

Just show up, be you, talk honestly and save the flowers for the future if there appears to be one. Don't do it all at once and take your time. Good luck!

Do not give flowers on the first date, take them around the next day. But don't have them delivered, take them yourself.

Maybe buying a single red rose from one of those cheesy sellers 'Rose for the lady Sir? Rose for the lady?'
