I have to say, this is an excellent analogy.
But in this case, there are perhaps people who have come up with a different cure on their own...

That's funny. I read that whole thing thinking you were talking about an Atheist trying to save a Christian until the last part.
Christians as a group are not hated nor feared. The hatred of individual Christians is abhorred. Their ideas are simply seen as silly to some people. When those "silly" ideas a pushed, then you can imagine some people get very frustrated. The insistence that the tenets of a religion should hold some power in government and play a deciding factor in our laws is intolerable. I am a little frightened by the impact Christianity is having on my life, through government.
Only Christians think that Christians are hated and feared.

People dont hate you because your trying to save them, they resent the fact that you are trying to teach them how to live.....I have lived a good life, i treat others with dignity and respect and have always followed the rules and laws made up by society, so why is it that you feel that you must barge your way into anothers life?, and suddenly feel as if you think they should be living life your way, what makes your way of life any better?, nicer?, cleaner? or more law abiding than mine?
Let me ask you something
Why is it that you believe at all?
Is it because you have been told too, from someone in a position of authority when you were a child?
Or is the way that you have studied upon and thought about it as the most logical way of doing things? (And here im not speaking about studying the Bible or quoting scriptures - anyone can do that - im speaking of studying life as a whole, without adding religion to the equasion.
I am an intelligent person, please dont insult me by telling me you've come to save me from an eternity of some ridiculous hell, because i just dont believe it exists....nothing you do or say to me is going to proove otherwise. You tell me a good reason why i should believe, (without quoting the Bible or telling me i have the need/want too, that it because you love me...you dont love me ! You dont even know me......) that any of the ridiculous practice called Christianity/Catholicism the the way i should go with my life.......I welcome you to try.

Because you are so convinced that you have the cure, it is pitful. It is like someone wanting to inject everyone with a some drug that he has discovered, because he thinks it will prevent cancer. Fortunately, there are regulatory bodies that usually prevent harmful drugs from getting onto the market, but even then, some harmful drugs get released and harm people.
Some tobacco company executives probably really believed that their product was harmless, but look at the damage it has done.
Why should you be allowed to dispense your particular product just because you like the tobacco man think it is harmless? Un-fortunately, there are not enough restrictions to prevent the harm that religions do to people.

I don't know any one who hates Christians and certainly no one who's afraid of them.
People who use to try to convince people they were ill use to be called snake oil peddlers. People who sold fake cures to ill people were called Charlatans or Quacks.
Some quacks even believed their cures were legitimate and swore by them. Once in a while they got tar and feathered, or ran out of town tied to a rail.
Now you must have x -ray vision to see that 66 % percent of the world's population are Muslims and are dieseased from lack of your insight and cure. Then you will have to count the 1 billion Hindi's and then Buddists, then all the other religions, 'til at last you come to Christianity.
You remind me of the Boy Scout who strong arms an old lady across the street and when they get across the street she smacks him with her purse, saying, "I didn't want to cross the street".
Another suggestion , whining and complaining is a sign that you may maybe afflicted with a tragic case of martyrdom. Cheer up.

If you say that I have a disease which only you can see, and the disease is not affecting my life in any way that I can detect, I am more likely to believe that the disease exists only in your mind.
When you add to that the fact that your cure is distasteful to me and I can see it harming others it causes me not to hate you but to wish that you would give up your delusions and stop hurting other people.

I think that there are more people than just Christians who fear in death as most people know not what happens when you die and therefore they fear it .We are now living in a spiritual dark age and it is a major crisis at this time but we are now entering a new age where the brotherhood of all humanity will be known and where death will lose its grasp on all humanity as we all begin to understand ourselves as souls.

It absolutely amazes me that so many people today have been infected with some sort of insidious mental virus that leads them to the insane certainty that the myths, superstitions, fairy tales and fantastical delusions of a bunch of ignorant Bronze Age fishermen and wandering goat herders represent some kind of cosmic 'TRUTH' about fundamental matters of existence and reality. A universe in which all that exists are the earth and heaven, a solid 'firmament' structure (the sky) separating the earth from heaven (terrarium earth), talking snakes (with legs) and donkeys, a shepherd staff that turns into an asp, demons chased out of people and into pigs, friendly spirits, evil spirits, walking on water, multiplying loaves and fishes, food falling from the sky, conception by a ghost, people raised from the dead, the sun stopping in its tracks, parting seas, people being bodily sucked up into heaven (which, by the way, lies on the 'other side' of the sky), world-wide flood that drowned the earth to a depth of 40 feet above the tallest mountain, creating people from a dust bunny and a rib, a magical tree of knowledge, god speaking from a burning bush... and ritual cannibalism, by eating god in the form of a cracker.
In a sane world, anybody running around spouting ANY of that crap, would be locked up in the State Farm for the Funny. Apparently, though, mass insanity seems to convey some sort of free pass for the loony.
And you dare to suggest that people who DON'T believe all of that ludicrous crap need help?
Get a grip.

So what you're saying is that only you know the absolute truth. Nobody understands, nobody listens, nobody gets "saved" according to your definition. You, and you alone, against the whole world. Hmm. And you just cannot understand why the people in the white coats are so solicitous and keep reminding you to take your medicine and keep sharp objects away from you and all your shoes have velcro instead of laces. Yes, we know you're only trying to help, but you need to hear our most fervent prayer: God Save Us from Those Who Would Save Us!

It is not a case of hating Christians it is a case of feeling angry towards people who just wont take no for an answer.
I find a lot of them are like salesmen. They just go on and on about how wonderful the product they are selling is, so eventually you give in and then you realise that is really wasn't as good as they led you to believe! You then feel cheated and stupid for believing them in the first place!
I have nothing against people who have a faith in which to believe in, I just object to them harassing me all the time and condemning me to an afterlife in hell just for not believing what they believe in. They don't listen to me so why should I listen to them??
Everyone is entitled to their own views and opinions. If I choose not to believe that is because I have my own reasons. I should not be judged as a person because of my beliefs.
I agree with the principles of the bible and in a way I live like I believe a good Christian should live.......... I don't kill, or steal. I am not greedy and I certainly don't judge!!
I just don't believe in God and I am not going to apologise for it!

Most Christians have good loving intentions. However, sadly the most vocal ones dont act like Christians at all. Hateful and often Violent people often lable themselves as "Christians" and even more sadly, people tend not to even check the Bible to see if Jesus taught to be this way.
