Besides filling out the forms at FAFSA, go to http://www.fastweb.com . There are grants and scholarships listed there fro older students as well.
I went back to school at 43, and received enough help to cover all my school expenses.

Good for you.
Check with your employer. If you work for a large company, they may have a scholarship program.
Be prepared to write a lot of essays to apply for scholarships.
Focus on reducing your spending while you are in school. If you spend less, you can work less.
1. Buy the store brand items when you go to the grocery store instead of the name brands. You can cut almost 1/3 off your grocery bill by doing that. If you can't (or won't) use the store brand of an item, use coupons. You can write to the manufacturer for coupons sometimes.
2. Carpool if possible
3. Limit the amount of times you eat out.
Check with the local cooperative extensions for more money saving ideas. They will be happy to help you.

In addition to the FASFA, I would also check with your local community college and/or community groups. A lot of groups give away small, private, one time scholarships to older students returning to school. It might only be $500 bucks, but a lot of times not that many people apply to them, and it's well worth a short essay and filling out an application. I would also check with your employer and see if it has any sort of program to aid you. Many companies do though there may be conditions to that sort of aid, like a field of study and a number of years that you have to commit to the company after obtaining a degree.

Fill out your fafsa and see what happens from there. A lot of colleges also have special programs for helping people who are returning to school. It all depends on the college, but some will even help you get things like school supplies and books.

FAFSA is the big fat form that makes federal funds available to students. I was at a used bookstore a few days ago and they had lots of books of advice on financing. Good luck.
