the standard ps settings seems to be 72dpi when I open a pic. Can I make PS open the photos with higher dpi`? Because when i print now the pic is a little pixelated. The same happens when I change 72 to 200. I want it to open with 200 or more.. thanks all

You can set the resolution under preferences .. not sure which version you are using ... mine is set for screen resolution of 72 and print resolution of 300 ... this is for new images..... meaning those you start from scratch.

If the photos you open from your camera are opening at a set resolution of 72, for both screen and print ... my educated guess is that you are taking photo's on the lowest resolution available on your camera. Increase the resolution quality on your camera to best. You only get 5mp when using best resolution ... you get significantly less than that when you utilize the lower settings.

A 5mp compact digicam is super for photos going into an album. that's no longer inevitably the form of mega pixels that determines the in many situations occurring of a image, yet in addition the size of the sensor. many times a digital SLR has an even bigger sensor than a compact, Which in turn has an even bigger sensor than a cellular telephone digicam.
