Its hard to say I have heard about the stress cards. I did see some of the new stress free soldiers appear around the early 1990's. They were smarter soldiers with higher GT scores. The other side was they were not use to hard work and being in combat arms 109 howitzer unit. It took longer to do a lot of the physical things and they were a lot more relaxed. I don't think change is always bad. I might have made it a career if things had been a little more relaxed. The other side of that coin is what happens during the times of stress and war, will they obey all lawful orders when you don't have time to tell them why or what the purpose.

My service was not in the army so I can't comment much about "then versus now". I do know that todays military is being run much smarter than in the past. Since the time I was in the service the military has adopted more elaborate means to analyze and evaluate it's performance much like corporations are doing. It's always going to be a work in progress. I think you need to have faith that those in command realize the mission they have and how best to accomplish it. Equipment is just as heavy, miles are just as long, terrain just as challenging, climate just as unforgiving, and blood just as red as it ever was. It's pretty much the same job, they are only getting better at doing it. Soft?...I doubt it, but maybe they've learned that some of the older methods could be improved on.

Hoot, you forgot to mention the pampered Pu$$ies of todays society. I say that as a generality and not as an absolute. I know that there are many good soldiers in todays Army.

boot camp has been restructured to fit the changing conditions of the war and the enemy we face the stress card thing was done as a experiment years ago and is no longer used today soldiers are trained as volinteers and are treated as such we want people who can think on their feet and can feel free to to solve complex problems without fear of reprisal so its not weekness or softness just a new way of doing things.

Claim: Recruits in basic training are issued "stress cards," which when waved at demanding drill sergeants immediately entitle recruits to gentler treatment.

interior the previous, the diverse movements of the DI's in the direction of the recruits substitute into seen abused. We however it made them harder besides the undeniable fact that it in user-friendly terms made them angrier, Many recruits have filed circumstances with the yankee Civil Liberty Union pointing out those information. Treating recruits as person would not recommend that we are starting to be softer.

i dont know why you are asking or what you are trying to accomplish or imply by asking, but if you think it is cool to sit in the air conditioning of the safety of your home and question the boot camps that are responsible for training the men and women that are fighting for YOU, why don't you get off of your *** and go join and find out for yourself. When you come in contact with your first bullet, you write back and let me know how soft you think the army really is.. ok. Better yet, why dont you ask the families of the soldiers who gave their lives for you, just to have you question them and the training they received... im sure they would appreciate it.

Yeah it is supposed to....If you ask me its stupid and it is only going to allow people that would usually be weeded out to get in and then become a pain in the $#% for there supervisor when they get to post and specially when they have to go to the sand.
