My mum cleans combs in the washing machine but what do I do with a brush?

I know how to get the hair out. It's just that after buying one yesterday, I kept using it till today until the bristles seemed a little bit dirty.

You can clean a hairbrush by using a comb to get all the hair out of it. Let it soak in rubbing alcohol for 25 mins and then boiling it for 5 mins. Let air dry!!!

Fill sink with soapy water. While it is filling remove all of the hair from the brush. Place the brush face down into the soapy water for 10 minutes or so. When you pull it out it may still have icky stuff on the bristles but it will come off easily. You will have to let it dry for about a day afterwards.

Take a fine toothed comb and comb it through the brush and get out all the hair. Then soak it in rubbing alchohol overnight and just rinse it. I do that all the time with my brushes. I have long hair and I have to keep mine clean

First pull all the excess hair out from in between the bristles, then fill your sink up with hot soapy water (use a gentle body wash, something like Dove, NOT hand soap or shampoo) and soak the brush for about ten-fifteen minutes, rinse with cool water, and let it dry, and that should do it. :]

Remove the hair first, then soak it in a diluted ammonia solution for about 1/2 hour. Rinse well.
One part ammonia to 5 parts of water should be fine.
Warning: Never mix ammonia with bleach.

I know when we were little and we had lice my mom boiled our combs and brushes. Sounds odd i know it kills any bacteria or anything else on it. And just in case there is a smart alec out there no it didn't cause melting or anything. Anyway, hope that helps.

well the only thing you need is a pen or anything that could fit in the brush bristles and your set to go.

I use the strongest clarifying shampoo, Pantene, and some hot water. I let it soak for about 15 minutes and rinse with plenty of water.
