Two cups flour, one of salt and I think one or one and a half of water. Stick some food colouring in if you want different colours and keep it in the fridge. It should stay moist for a few days. You can cook it to set it if you make something you want to keep. I make Christmas decorations that way. Several hours at low heat is the best way to cook it. It's great fun in a messy kind of way!

I made this play dough many times for my children when they were young.:

2 cups flour
2 cups water
1 cup salt
2 tablespoons oil
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
Colour of your choice.

Put wet ingredients in saucepan and add dry ingredients to it. Place over a low heat and stir until stiff. Good luck! By the way, be sure you use plain flour, otherwise it will be full of lumps.

Self raising flour, water and salt.....mix it as if your making bread, add food colouring while doing this, place back in the bowl, to allow time to rise, then wrap in plastic wrap until ready for use other wise it will dry out......
