Cruise ships always tell passengers when they are sailing and remind them what time to be back as they depart ship. If someone was left behind it was their own doing; and what a place to be left in. But check this web site to see:

They also have a system where they check to see who is back on the boat and will wait as long as possible for the pasengers to come back. Also provided is a phone number where you can call the boat in an emergency - like to tell them you are on your way.

I was on a cruise once where people had the wrong return time, or their watches were set incorrectly. The ships paged them over and over for at least 30 minutes trying to find them. As the boat was leaving the harbour, they got a phone call from them saying they were taking a boat out to the ship and that they were on their way. The ship stopped and waited for them.

I have not heard of anything where the entire passenger compliment was left someplace - the only cruise ships I've seen in the news lately are the ones that tipped and the new Freedom of the Seas boat.

It's possible that some people were left behind if they were drunk, kicked off the boat, or late returning, but the only way to really know for sure is to talk to passengers on that particular cruise.

Sorry I couldn't be more help!

I checked the events at sea listing for July and did not find any listing of stranded passengers. This doesn't mean no one was left, if you miss the sailing - you've missed the boat.
